Dragged me in

And kept me there. I really needed the distraction today and I was able to fully inhabit this story. Thank you Janice. You have made Dystopia Day that much more tolerable.

Historia
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Like a hug with mega dose of confidence

Heartwarming but didn’t make me gag-this is high praise
Revisado: 06-02-24
I hate stories that rely on being heartwarming for appeal. Hate them. They always feel gross and overly simple and so completely unrealistic. I realize this sounds weird in a review about a wormhole but here we are. And honestly? I don’t like performed stories. It’s so easy to get wrong or throw you out of the story. But wow. These people were good. And I related to so much. An absurd amount really. And the best part was I was needing something that wouldn’t make me feel anxious (sometimes I read thrillers and suspense but it’s been a couple of rough months) and I was able to stay engaged completely even though it starts with a fairly clear promise that conflicts will resolve and be okay. I sometimes have to stop reading romance stories because of third act miscommunications because they stress me out and also feel unrealistic based on the progression of a relationship. If you want me to believe people are truly that close and have overcome so much, don’t ask me to believe they suddenly have the communications skills of a 14 year old nerd at a school dance. ANYWAY. highly recommend.
