Historia
From executive producers of The Walking Dead and Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, comes a heart-stopping Audible Original featuring a brilliant British cast. It’s the near future and seven years since a comet hit the earth and blotted out the sun. The world is a dark, frozen landscape. And then, beastly creatures emerge and take over. A story of apocalypse, horror, and adventure, Impact Winter is a wholly original new saga created just for Audible with immersive 3D audio that dares you to pop in your earbuds and listen in the dark.

Could have been better.
Revisado: 12-05-22
I loved the direction this book took. The sound design was creative, but could have been better.
At first I loved the effects with sounds although occasionally the sounds overshadowed the narration.
I personally would have enjoyed a short description of the setting before each plot twist or change in direction.
To sum things up quickly:
Scale 1-5
Sound effects: 3
Acting vocals: 5
Narrator: 1 (there wasn’t any narration)
Music: 3
Story: 3
Credits: 1 (felt like credits would never end)
I loved the concept of the story being told this way. Really brings the book to life. I believe that with a little narration to set scene, and not to overpower the sound effects you could really take this to another level.
My 2 cents!

Historia
Past midnight, Chyna Shepard, twenty-six, gazes out a moonlit window, unable to sleep on her first night in the Napa Valley home of her best friend’s family. Instinct proves reliable. A murderous sociopath, Edgler Foreman Vess, has entered the house, intent on killing everyone inside. A self-proclaimed “homicidal adventurer,” Vess lives only to satisfy all appetites as they arise, to immerse himself in sensation, to live without fear, remorse, or limits, to live with intensity. Chyna is trapped in his deadly orbit.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 11-28-22
Normally I love Koontz, but this was more of an short story with a ton of backstory just to make it a novel.
The narrator had no flair or change in voice, which made listening difficult. I love great narratives when done correctly. It could be a more memorable book if the narrator would bring something to the story.
I almost stopped listening, but wanted to see if the story had a turn of events. This particular Koontz title I can not recommend. I hate saying that as Koontz doesn’t disappoint often.

Superb!
Revisado: 11-27-22
I am a huge fan of the works of Brian Lumley. With the combination of great writing and excellent narration, I thoroughly enjoyed the lost years.
Not for someone unfamiliar with the Necroscope series. Every book is fantastic, if you enjoy the author’s aspect of both vampires, as well as how and who a necroscope is.
If you have not ventured down the path, but want to have a firm grasp of what is entailed in this book, I strongly suggest starting with the first book, Necroscope, and see if this is a series you want to follow.
If you love horror, I can say that each book explains something unique about every creature of the night. Without being armed with this knowledge this book will leave you very confused.😲
