Historia
Professor Hank Newstead has been making expeditions to the Amazon River for years. They've become routine to him. But this time, the expedition is going to be anything but normal. Hank, along with a hardened river boat captain, his much younger girlfriend, and his main professional rival, are in the Amazon purely to study frogs. All their plans vanish quickly, however, when they are attacked by a Titanoboa, an enormous prehistoric snake that should be millions of years in its grave.

A classic story of scientists messing with something they shouldn't. When gigantic species go extinct, maybe they should stay that way.
We have a group setting out on an expidition to study frogs. They are horrified when they are attacked by a gigantic snake. After seeing the beast & seeing the horror it would inflict, they desperately tried to get away. Then when they discover the reason for the beasts presence a new horror unfolds.

I love this series
Revisado: 11-04-24
OMG soooo good. I can't get enough of this series. It literally had me in tears several times. Once you strat this series you can't stop. Such intricate characters of all shapes and sizes. As I said before, you will laugh, cry and get angry with these pages as you turn them. It's such an emotional story at times. So many things happen in this one.
Torren makes an appearance. He is staying in the dungeon with his beloved Erin zombie. He searched for a long time to find one that looked like her. I think Torren is starting to regret the way he left Erin in the sleigh in the snowstorm. He feels bad for killing her his one friend.
The elections are over and the council cheated with the results. They put Kershia & Lyssum on the council together. None of those in Liscor were happy about this either. Lyssum is impossible to work with and always wants to be in charge. When they learn what the previous council worked on they scoffed and vowed to be better. They would get things done, important things.
The story of the defeat of The Empress of beasts was revealed and it was sad. It brought tears to my eyes.
There was also a misunderstanding of the circumstances of the expulsion of Pices & Saria from Westrom Academy.
Such a great story.

When you’re 11 years old, it’s tough convincing people to take you seriously. When you’re an 11-year-old savant, It’s exponentially more difficult. Since Jake’s inability to connect with others had made him somewhat of an outcast for most of his life, he’d learned to divert his energy into his artistic talent, creating mesmerizing images capable of literally paralyzing anyone who should gaze upon them.

I enjoyed this story. I found it to have great characters. I liked the idea of Jake finding the dragon who is disguised as a Chihuahua. The friendship between Jake and Turbo was great and therefore created a strong bond.
Jake said he found Turbo and asked if he could keep him. His father said he could until they found his owner. Of course they wouldn't find an owner. So Turbo found a home. He earned his keep being a guard dog. Turbo hung out with his dad and sometimes with his mom while he was at school. They thought his true identity was their secret but of course it wasn't. Somebody else was watching and waiting. Together Jake and his Dragon/Chihuahua wouldn't let anything separate them. One who wanted to steal Turbo was sent to jail but he never forgot about the little dog who he believed was a dragon. He thought about nothing else and plotted his revenge. This was just an a9ll around good story and can’t wait to see what book 2 brings.

Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

This was a very entertaining story and it’s very funny which is a bonus. A great cast of characters and each one piqued my interest.
Laurel Pettigrew lives in San Francisco, but she is a not-so-ordinary girl. She possesses magic and she is the “Chosen” one. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. Her task was simple: She would defeat and vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But things didn’tgo as planned and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a total failure. Instead of being a mighty hero, Laurel's the resident joke of the magic realm. Even worse, the dark wizard Tybus took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his maddening rule. All who refused to join his wicked cause had their magic stripped from them. Now everyone hates Laurel. Except her two roomies—Sybil, the sassiest diva of a fairy, who could throw shade with the flick of a wing. And Frank, the vampire who rocks a bald spot and a serious paunch. They are her real friends who have her back, no matter what. Then comes Kate, who somehow knows more about Laurel than Laurel knows about herself. As Laurel gets to know Kate, laurel discovers she's got some secrets up her sleeve. She has magic and is ½ demon. As they discover Kates secrets, Laurel realizes that this might just give her another shot at redemption and a chance to rewrite her destiny.
A hilarious story

Dianna Flowers was a starving artist, a disappointment to her parents, and a local weirdo. Not exactly the kind of woman having to beat the guys off with a stick. So when she challenged the town matchmaker to set her up with her one true love, she meant it as a joke. But when she meets Parker Smith and sparks start to fly, she begins to wonder if he could be her soul mate...even if he doesn't have a soul.

very Interesting
Revisado: 09-28-24
This was a great read. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was interesting. My second read from this author and all I can say is what's next.
Dianna Flowers is not exactly living the dream. Twenty three and part time working at a bookstore and teaching art. She loves her art but she’s not exactly sure where her life is heading. While she is loving her independence from her obsessed parents she is still living in a rat infested apartment. Beverly Barnes witch, bookstore owner and matchmaker extraordinaire is Dianna’s boss and she is challenged by Dianna to find her soulmate and so she does. That is Parker Smith a zombie and just a regular guy. Turns out all the scary movies, books and tv shows had it wrong. He’s had a rough go of it in Mystic Cove as there are a group of citizens who are trying to run him out. Apparently vampires, shifters and witches are ok zombies not so much. Shy and run down due to the constant harassment Parker does his best to mostly fade into the background. After Beverly sets them up, The two meet and things are a little strange at first but as the two get to know each other they prove the old saying opposites attract. Dianna is feeling like she’s all in, but Parker is haunted by his past. Will his secrets ruin their newly found relationship? There was a shocking twist in the ending that I did not see coming. Loved this story it was so quirky and entertaining. The Flowers family Sunday brunch was a hoot. I love the premise of the series and this book was a great read.

Revisado: 09-19-24
Now the story gets interesting. The author creates very intricate worlds and ferocious battles. There is also plenty of dragons.
Bower now has to face his destiny and that is Torvald’s rightful king but he still doubts himself. Enric is still after Saffron and planning on ridding the world of dragons. The group now has to find more dragon riders so they went looking for the Three Rivers Tribe. Once they found them they discovered they did indeed have dragons but were horrified at their treatment. They were chained & collared. There was no bond of any kind with their riders. Ryland their leader challenged Bower. He said he wouldn't follow Bower until he passed a challenge. The challenge was to mount one of the wild chained dragons. Again Bower doubted himself but knew he had to do it if he had any hope of claiming the title of king. He would also have to unite the wild dragons with some riders if he had any hope to defeat Enric.

This was an interesting story. It is quite dark due to it's vampiric nature.
Narissa swore her fsther was killed by a vampire but nobody believed her. Blackwatch, the compant her father worked for, refused to help as well. So she set out to find the vampire with the scar. She first paid a vampire blood donor to switch places with her so she could get information. She met Calin the vampire who fed from her and they kind of became friends. A she kept searching for answes she found a place where the vamps gathered to on people sent by blackwatch. Naz and her witch friend decided to sneak in, that was a mistake. Once inside Naz couldn't believe her eyes. It was more like a revel. Wild things were happening and it didn't seem that the blood pact was keeping the vamps in check either. Then she saw the one shhe was looking for but that's when the trouble started.
The story was kind of slow going but the ending was very eventful and surprising.

This was a great story. I have had it in my library forever and came across it and gave it a try. I really enjoyed it. The plot was interesting and it had a wide variety of monsters which was great.
An island enveloped in fog was home to eight families. They all had 1 child each and they never left the island for anything. The children were told that a devastating virus killed everyone & the eight families were the only ones left. They were now becoming very curious about the outside world and started investigating. That is when strange things started happening. The children all started going through some changes, turning into something. A new teacher arrived as well. They called her Miss Simone. The children were scared of her and thought she would take them for scientific experiments. Once the kids started communicating with each other and sharing their transformations with each other, they got serious. They would find out what the adults weren't telling them. Between the 8, there was a dragon, a harpie, a centaur, an ogre and more. Their journey would expose secrets, portals & a new world.
It's just an all around good story with a surprise ending.
