COULDNT PUT IT DOWN
Revisado: 10-20-23
I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the fact that both Robyn and Cormoran were able to play off each other and figure things out. I loved the twists and turns and the ending. However, I did think that Robyn‘s first day at the farm was very long and drawn out and almost tedious. I understand the premise, so that we could fully understand, but it really did get long. There are many unanswered questions… I really thought Mazou more involved in this and why wouldn’t she be? I wondered how people could just “leave“ the farm when it was always so locked down? I wondered what happened to Dr. Zhu? I wondered how any man including a narcissist like Jonathan would go along with the killing of his very own daughter? Didn’t he have lots and lots of daughters and sons from all the women he was with through the years? I don’t understand why this one was supposed to be so special? Becca was really not included in the ending ....I guess I wanted things to be a little more tied up. I am really enjoying this series and it is a long long long process for Robin and Strike. I quite liked Strike going out on a limb and telling her how he feels! FINALLY. Let us hope that in the next book we finally have what we’ve all been hoping for! This book is the best in the series and I think JKR is really getting in this genre groove. I am looking forward to the next one very soon.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

A slog
Revisado: 11-07-22
This book left me “Thank God it’s Over”. I am reading for a book club. I wanted to cheer for the main character but couldn’t … I don’t care how much the author tells me Elizabeth is independent and wants to make her own way in the world—why does she let others walk all over her again and again and just take the unjust scraps given her when she is obviously smart enough to know it is wrong? She acts like a doemat. This is positive reinforcement for women?? Narrator was great except for mispronunciation of Jack LaLane. Poor poor quality control.

It's a fear more paralyzing than falling. More terrifying than absolute darkness. More horrifying than anything you can imagine. It's the one fear you cannot escape, no matter where you run...no matter where you hide. It's the fear of yourself. It's real. It can happen to you. And facing it can be deadly.

*** note to Audible- Ch 72 was missing and a duplicate of 74. I was so lost!! I figured out what happened, deleted the book and re- downloaded it, same problem. Please fix this!!!
Scary in it’s premise, the protagonist is abominable. I wish my spouse was as is written! Things come together and I appreciated the ending after so much.
The author has a fabulous vocabulary! The reader/actor was great for such difficult material.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

I absolutely loved this book. The story is about love, loss, atrocities, pain and gain. The narrator did a beautiful job of different voices and languages. I was deeply moved by the story and will continue reading this author- all very well done!

Unemotional content and delivery, disjointed and non-cohesive story- telling. I have to wonder at her editor. Why waste the ink to introduce a person and not describe them, their personality, character, emotions, thoughts—something? Then they are gone or never mentioned again- does not flow at all. Really the best part was the end- the psychoanalysis of Donald. I find it incredible that no one in this narrative ever said No or did their own thing let alone the right thing and stand up for themselves. So many were victims- does no one have accountability for their own actions? I finished this book quickly and have been thinking about it for a few days before writing this review. It is unsettling that no one ever disturbs the dysfunctional status quo.... why? Fear? Ignorance? Emotional incapability? Or the ever present Money? And then the $64M question.... why now? Why not when he was running? If she had nothing to lose because she was screwed, why wait? I think she is a very smart woman who knows sociopathy and narcissism when she sees it - now but I find so many holes in this book. What is the author’s purpose really?

Craig Gisto and his newly formed team have barely raised their glasses, however, when a young Asian man, blood-soaked and bullet-ridden, staggers into the party, and what looks like a botched kidnapping turns out to be a whole lot more.

Entertaining
Revisado: 03-10-18
Unlike others who have reviewed this book I found the Aussie accent very easy to listen to and I did think the narrator did an excellent job of performing — he acted different accents and gave inflection and emphasis to make the story interesting. He did just that he performed this book and not just read it.
The story is the typical James Patterson three plots going simultaneously. So in that respect we knew what was coming but on the other hand it was refreshing to get a different perspective from another country and another team. I enjoyed this book I will continue to finish the Private series.
