Historia
I’m the only woman on staff for the Windy City Warriors, and after years of putting up with a sexist lead doctor, I’m desperate to land my dream job with a new team next year. All I have to do is maintain my professional reputation for my final season in Chicago. But a Las Vegas run-in with the team’s shortstop threatens it all, leaving me with a fuzzy memory and a ring on my left hand.

Family comes in all shapes and sizes
Revisado: 07-12-24
I loved it. Each new book in the Windy City Series is my new favorite. Liz Tomforde keeps making her characters more loveable and their stories more adorable.
I already liked Isaiah after we are introduced to him in Caught Up, and I really enjoyed getting a different understanding of who he is behind the cocky attitude. We were only given a few brief interactions with Kennedy in the last book, but in this one we learn about her family and more about her relationship her stepbrother (Isaiah’s arch nemesis). One of my favorite parts of this series is getting to see how the characters of the previous books continue to grow. These books really are about family, and all the different connections that bring us together.

Lost in a heteronormative mindset
Revisado: 03-03-21
First three chapters were great at catching my attention. After only that far into the book, I started recommending it to everyone. Chapter 4 and beyond lost me in a sea of heteronormative gender roles and absolutes “I always” “he never”
I like how the author recommends having the conversations about equity in the household responsibilities. I know many people who could benefit with the tools for how to do that and even have some use in the cards. I could have done without the “men only ever think about themselves” mentality. I also was very turned off my the author noting that this book could be helpful even “before” you have kids. So, conversations about how to split responsibility of household tasks are only needed if/when you have kids?!?! Ick. We can do without these types of messages in our society.

Historia
Previously published as A Private War, Marie Brenner’s Richard Jewell tells a gripping true story of heroism and injustice. In the early morning hours of July 27, 1996, three pipe bombs exploded at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, killing one person and injuring 111 others. Hundreds more potential casualties were prevented by the vigilance and quick actions of security guard Richard Jewell, who uncovered the bombs and began evacuating the area. But no good deed goes unpunished. Investigators and journalists pursued Jewell as a potential suspect.

READ THE REVIEWS!!!
Revisado: 01-30-21
Title lists as Richard Jewell, and other tales of heros, scoundrels and renegades. To be fair, this book was maybe 1/5 about Richard Jewell, 3/5 about ol Donny Trump and 1/5 about Marie Colvin. Very mis-leading. Was ecstatic about this since it is a new movie directed by Clint Eastwood. Not much about Richard Jewell. But, if you are not a fan of Donny you may enjoy this as it talks about his issues being an actual decent human being.

Historia
The story of a student who went to extraordinary lengths - including living in a van on a campus parking lot - to complete his education without sacrificing his financial future. In a frank and self-deprecating voice, memoirist Ken Ilgunas writes about the existential terror of graduating from college with $32,000 in student debt. Inspired by Thoreau, Ilgunas set himself a mission: get out of debt as soon as humanly possible. To that end, he undertook an extraordinary three-year transcontinental journey.

Holy words
Revisado: 12-04-17
Someone take away this guy’s thesaurus. The story was good but the flow would improve if you took out the pages of descriptions and analogies. Seriously though, you don’t need 2-3 analogies for every situation. Maybe a timeout with the library card would also be recommended.
All in all, good story. Just too adjectives.

I admit, I read Love Warrior first. I would probably love this book more if I had read it before Love Warrior.
This book reads like a blog with the stories connected but not requiring any sort of order to navigate through them.

Pass this one up
Revisado: 02-22-17
This narrator is terrible. It sounds like one of those programs that reads the text on a computer. After 15 minutes I had to return the book because it was that bad. Too bad, it sounded like an interesting book.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Gone Girl cannot hold a candle to this book
Revisado: 06-23-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. It started slowly, almost causing me to switch to a different book. I am so happy I stuck with it. I was surprised at every twist.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters were realistic with realistic faults. They were also likeable.
Which scene was your favorite?
Rachel's part of the story was always my favorite. The Anna was whiney and Megan rather confusing.
