A lesbian awakening wrapped in a bad whodunit
Revisado: 02-08-18
It starts out with verve, with a tough female detective investigating serial murders. But it degenerates into a cheezy love story about her new lover, a rookie female detective partnered with her.
I won’t be reading any more books by Gerri Hill

It starts with a phone call Mike Daley never expected, from District Attorney Prentice Marshall Gates III, San Francisco's chief law enforcement officer and front-runner candidate for California attorney general. Friends they're not, but Gates needs Daley now - badly. He's just been arrested. A couple of hours earlier he woke up in his hotel room and found the dead body of a young male prostitute in the bed.

OK but a disappointing follow up to Book 1
Revisado: 12-11-17
Since I quite enjoyed Siegel's first book in the series, I had high expectations for this one. I found that he sticks quite closely to his plot formula, which by the way, is quite interesting. But most of the characters are the same as in Book 1, so don't expect complex personalities.
Unless Siegel departs from his formula for characters and plot, I don't think I'll read the next one.

Historia
Newly minted chief resident at Boston Memorial Hospital Noah Rothauser is swamped in his new position, from managing the surgical schedules to dealing with the fallouts from patient deaths. Known for its medical advances, the famed teaching hospital has fitted several ORs as "hybrid operating rooms of the future" - an improvement that seems positive until an anesthesia error during a routine procedure results in the death of an otherwise healthy man.

Entertaining but preachy
Revisado: 11-07-17
Robin Cook write novels that provide entertainment but are also denunciations of problems in the medical profession. His characters are not well rounded humans but symbols of good, evil, incomoetence, jealousy, like in a morality play.
One thing I did enjoy was the detail in rendering medical procedures.
Another enjoyable aspect was the suspense. It is well bult and keeps your interest.
But that was probably the last Cook novel I will, download.

Outstanding and extremely original novel
Revisado: 09-05-17
Written by a man, this novel in the voice of a woman is extraordinary. A successful lawyer in her sixties looks back on her activist youth in the late 1960s, writing a memoir about it and researching and finding new shocking things about her life and loves. It's engrossing, never flagging, bittersweet and very intelligent.

Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. Very disappointing
Revisado: 03-08-17
Would you try another book from Joy Ellis and/or Henrietta Meire?
I'm afraid this is the last book by Joy Ellis I'll download
Would you be willing to try another one of Henrietta Meire’s performances?
Her performance is a bit sophomoric, I'll stay away
Any additional comments?
The plot is quite interesting, but characters are shallow and dialogue is typical of "airport books". It's OK to pass the time while waiting for your plane but don't expect a good crime novel in the great British tradition

Historia
Laid back, ultra–California cool, the former cop turned PI begins each day with the Dawn Patrol, a close-knit group of surfers, best friends who not only ride waves together but have one another's backs out of the water. It's the life Boone loves, all he wants. To him, "There's no such thing as a bad day at the beach." So when one of their own is murdered - especially an icon like Kelly Kuhio, a local hero - and another surfer, a young punk from the Rockpile Crew, stands accused, the small world of Pacific Beach is rocked to its core.

Maybe not Winslow's best but still very good
Revisado: 02-28-17
Where does The Gentlemen's Hour rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Compared to other Winslow novels, this is middling. But that only means it's very good
Who was your favorite character and why?
Obviously Boone Daniels, the main character: laid out, surfer dude, ex-cop and able private eye
Any additional comments?
The plot is intricate and interesting.Holter Graham's narration is outstanding, with multiple voices, both male and female, as well as several accents.

Historia
Someone has been watching D.A. Rachel Knight - someone who's Rachel's equal in brains, but with more malicious intentions. It began when a near-impossible case fell into Rachel's lap, the suspectless homicide of a homeless man. In the face of courthouse backbiting and a gauzy web of clues, Rachel is determined to deliver justice. She's got back-up: tough-as-nails Detective Bailey Keller. As Rachel and Bailey stir things up, they're shocked to uncover a connection with the vicious murder of an LAPD cop a year earlier.

An airport book but a fun airport book
Revisado: 02-26-17
I picked this up after watching the OJ series on Netflix, where Iearned that Marcia Clark went on to write thrillers. The plot is intricate and interesting, as well as some of the characters. One reviewer said it's a chick lit whodunit. Yes, there is that. But I did enjoy this book and would recommend for anyone interested in a fast paced and interesting procedural and cop thriller.

Invictus is a gripping, authentic and exciting audiobook of the Roman army from best-selling author Simon Scarrow. Not to be missed by fans of Conn Iggulden and Bernard Cornwell. It is AD 54. The soldiers of the Roman army patrol a growing empire from the Mediterranean to the North Sea, from the Atlantic to the banks of the Nile. Rome brutally enforces its rule, and its legions are the most efficient and aggressive fighting force in the world.

Revisado: 01-10-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone interested in Roman military history and adventure fiction,
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I am a great fan of Jonathan Keeble. He is a very talented narrator, maintaining an agreeable and steady voice throughout, as well as performing different voices credibly.
Any additional comments?
Having read many of Scarrow's novels, I must say this is one of the best.
