Narrator was terrible
Revisado: 08-23-24
The narrator made every female character in the story sound like a frantic, ignorant and naive female. Even the main character sounded stupid and childlike. It was extremely hard to get through. The story was OK, dragged on for a little while, and I lost interest halfway through. It was definitely a struggle to finish it.

So hard to get through
Revisado: 02-03-24
I really enjoy Nora Robert’s books but this one was brutal. It gave off “I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too” vibes. I found myself skipping over the bad guy narrations, and towards the end I just skipped everything just to get through it. I know some people loved it but this one was def not my favorite. The narrator was great though.

Historia
Tory Bodeen grew up in a run-down house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. Her one escape was her neighbor Hope, who lived in the big house just a short skip away, and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn’t allowed to be at home: a child. Then Hope was brutally murdered, and everything fell apart.

Good story, narrator was terrible
Revisado: 01-14-24
The story was good and I liked it a lot. But the narrator was doing nothing more than reading the ingredient list off of can of soup. There was absolutely no inflection in her voice at all. She never changed her voice for any of the characters, so it was very difficult to discern who was supposed to be talking.

Historia
Dr. Bonita Burgoyne is pleased with the changes she's made in her life…she has a rewarding new job and is looking forward to renovating the historic sea captain's house she has just purchased. She's content, and that's all she needs to be, or so she thinks until she hires Deo to head up the renovations. They have nothing in common except a shared legacy of betrayal by those they'd trusted the most, and an impossible attraction they would both prefer to ignore.

Enough with the sex scenes. Where’s the plot??
Revisado: 07-02-23
While I can appreciate a good sex scene, 75% of this book is just soft core porn. Barely any plot. It got to be too much for me.

Historia
Two classic stories of finding love where you least expect it! Marriage Wanted: As far as Nash Davenport's concerned, marriage isn't shelter from the storm - it is the storm. He's a divorce attorney, himself divorced, who believes no married couple can live up to their wedding vows. My Hero: Would-be romance writer Bailey York has already failed twice at love. She thinks men are wonderful to read and write about, but that's it. Which is probably why she has such difficulty creating a hero for her novel. What she needs is a real-life example.

Only book I’ve ever returned
Revisado: 04-03-23
I just couldn’t get through it. I tried very hard. The narration is just okay, not great. In both of the stories, the main female lead is just unlikable, insufferable and annoying as hell. It was painful to listen to and I finally just gave up. First book to ever return.
