Historia
In The Cadaver King and the Country Dentist, Radley Balko and Tucker Carrington write a true story of Southern Gothic horror - of two innocent men wrongly convicted of vicious crimes and the legally condoned failures that allowed it to happen. Balko and Carrington will shine a light on the institutional and professional failures that allowed this tragic, astonishing story to happen, identify where it may have happened elsewhere, and show how to prevent it from happening again.

Historia
Troy Pearce is the CEO of Pearce Systems, a private security firm that is the best in the world at drone technologies. A former CIA SOG operative, Pearce used his intelligence and combat skills to hunt down America’s sworn enemies in the War on Terror. But after a decade of clandestine special ops, Pearce opted out. Too many of his friends had been sacrificed on the altar of political expediency. Now Pearce and his team chose which battles he will take on by deploying his land, sea, and air drones with surgical precision.

Reader read this badly making a boring book worse.
Revisado: 05-15-18
I am going to return this book! Am into the 4th chapter and I can't get past the really bad job Jason Culp does reading this--it's like its a National Geographic documentary with every word seemingly over-emphasized, meticulously pronounced as if reading to school kids. The story just doesn't flow. I have never understood the reasoning of publishers in their selection of readers--for books on tape, that's often more important than the story. This is a decent story line and I would have gritted out if the reader was better.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!! GREAT story as expected.
Revisado: 02-02-18
This is the kind of book you can only dream of. I listen to and from work and linger in my car both directions it was so spellbinding. GREAT reader. John Lee is one of the all time greats.
Guarantee that you'll love this book. In the tradition of Fall of Giants, World without End, and Pillars of the Earth. Read them all. All were read by John Lee. a good reader can make or break a book so great combination.

Reads like a "Mickie Spillane" book from the 50's
Revisado: 11-11-17
I would not buy this book, in fact I'm returning it to Audible. 3/4 of it narration--like listening to or watching a Mickie Spillane series. Pretty formula, not much of a plot. I don't know Brendan DuBois, but certainly beneath James Patterson. It's a shame that fine authors spoil their legacy by selling a franchise to amateurs.

Historia
Before 9/11 America was protected by a covert force known as the National Crisis Management Center. Commonly known as Op-Center, this silent, secret mantel guarded the American people and protected the country from enemies. The charter was top secret and Director Paul Hood reported directly to the president. Op-Center used undercover operatives with SWAT capabilities to diffuse crises around the world, and they were tops in their field. But after the World Trade Center disaster, in the interest of streamlining, OP-Center was disbanded—leaving the country in terrible danger.

Repeating another review--NOT TOM CLANCY!!!!!
Revisado: 06-15-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
NOt really. the story is ok but the Narrator is very poor--especially for this type of book. He should be reading for children's storys or romance novels. I don't want to hurt this guys career, but Audible has a duty to their audience AND their authors to pay for much better narrators. A GOOD BOOK IS RUINED BY POOR NARRATION--THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE
What do you think your next listen will be?
Nothing read by Scott Sowers
How could the performance have been better?
simply a better reader--doesn't anyone ever listen to these readers?
Could you see Out of the Ashes being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
not really--overwhelming detail trying to copy Clancy's technique, but he had it and these guys don't.
Any additional comments?
I'm returning to Audible

Historia
Former US ambassador to the Ukraine Douglas Flannery meets with an old friend and former spy near New York's South Street Seaport. She is seeking his help to thwart a Russian plan to overrun her native Ukraine, but those for whom she is working propose an infinitely more dangerous scheme, one that could draw in NATO forces and possibly ignite World War III. Moments later, as she jogs along the East River, her throat is slashed.

this is NOT Tom Clancy!
Revisado: 06-15-17
Would you try another book from the authors and/or Henry Leyva?
I'm a Tom Clancy fan from way back. This is NOT Tom Clancy. I fear that the days of Tom Clancy are over, but rather his titles will be in name only
Would you recommend Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Dark Zone to your friends? Why or why not?
Not if I liked them. Boring book. Not Tom Clancy at all.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Henry Leyva?
Almost anyone really--terrible. Michael Prichard is still the best, but probably too expensive for these wannabies.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No--I'm returning to audible
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure how they select Narrators--is it cost? Certainly not talent in this case. Don't the author(s) ever listen to their stories once finished?

Revisado: 09-09-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
not what I wanted--not my genre
What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?
Reader didn't talk naturally in attempt to enunciate too clearly, but had a good voice and it seemed to improve as he got moe into it.

Women shouldn't try to sound like men!
Revisado: 06-12-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
no
What did you like best about this story?
good plat, but much of it was a rehash of one of the authors earlier books--what's with that?
How could the performance have been better?
The reader not good at all for this book. Bad male impersonation; better yet, have a man read the male roles. This reader has the same problem in Kathery Dance books when she trys male impersonation. Ruins the book. I keep forgetting to check out the reader befre I buy :(
Was The Prodigal Daughter worth the listening time?
Not if you have something to do besides driving up and down Interstate 5 by yourself
Any additional comments?
Audible or authors need to match the reader to the book better--a bad reader can ruin a book.

Historia
Thomas De Quincey, infamous for his memoir "Confessions of an English Opium-Eater", is the major suspect in a series of ferocious mass murders identical to ones that terrorized London 43 years earlier. The blueprint for the killings seems to be De Quincey's essay "On Murder Considered as One of the Fine Arts". Desperate to clear his name but crippled by opium addiction, De Quincey is aided by his devoted daughter, Emily, and a pair of determined Scotland Yard detectives.

Would you listen to Murder as a Fine Art again? Why?
I never like to read or listen or watch books, stories or movies a second time so no
Who was your favorite character and why?
All really good
What about Matthew Wolf’s performance did you like?
Excellent performance--spectacular actually.
Any additional comments?
Future readers--get past the first gory scene and it will be worth it--I wasn't sure what I had gotten into but soon got caught up in it.

OK but tried too hard
Revisado: 09-26-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Make it more believable. Dan Brown tries too hard to duplicate his earlier books--needs to move on.
Would you ever listen to anything by Dan Brown again?
Probably not unless reviewers said not a rehash of Angels&Demons. I was a big fan of Dan Brown but he needs to break the mold.
What about Paul Michael’s performance did you like?
very good
Did Inferno inspire you to do anything?
nope--toss up between driving 7 hours down I5 in silence or listening
