Slow to start but engaging characters and unpredictable plot twists kept me involved. Further, a subplot involving a dying relative who was 3-dimensional added heart, fun & add’l investment,in the characters & story.
I took off a star for needed edits and too-convenient or simplistic secondary character deaths.
Have fun, and for those of you who value it, enjoy illness and dying representation that is realistic, not mawkish.

This really impressed me and moved me. I bought The Marriage Code during a sale, thinking it would at least have great narration, and it does! In fact , I discovered even more of Vikas Adam’s talent as I had never heard him perform the accent specific to this setting’s region of India (I’m assuming).
This has the qualities of an enemies (and maybe) to lovers plot line with all the grace of Mary Stewart’s capacity to create and imbue a story with richness of sense and place. I can find long contemporary romances suspect in that so many times it has meant gratuitous drama and melodrama, but in this case everything felt organic and authentic.
I struggled some with how unlikable the main characters could be early on, but that lent to a stronger sense of growth and humanity as the story developed.I also accepted at a certain point that sometimes the discomfort came from familiarity owing to my own humanity. ; )
Related to this book, I read and reread Sajni Patel. Sandhya Menon, Lillie Vale, Sara Desai. Jasmine Guillory, Alexis Daria, Michelle Quash and Talia Hubert.

This is a richly satisfying and inspiring story, the qualities that bring me back to Ginger Scott's work again and again. I would also say that it is the most suspenseful of any her books that I've read or listened to so far.
I am giving four stars to both story and narration as there were moments where I didn't understand a transition or plot point or where I found the performances uneven. Even so, the emotional content of the narration was all the way there, so to speak, and I'm giving five stars overall since the sum is greater still than the parts.
For evaluatory context for my fellow G. Scott fans, my top faves are The Hard Count and the Falling Series, including the fourth of The Falling series which doesn't have an audio version yet.
Thanks for another important story, Ms. Scott! Time with your words is always meaningful time spent.
