The prophetic voice of Frederick Douglass
Revisado: 04-30-24
I am awestruck with this voice that rose the 1800s still ring true in our days in how many Church goers still confuse our Christian faith to the Christianity of this land. Many appear to conflate Christianity to Christian nationalism, Douglass was so right back then.

Historia
The light of the Christian faith is flickering out all over the West. American churches are beset by a rapidly secularizing culture, the departure of young people, and watered-down pseudo-spirituality. Political solutions have failed, as the self-destruction of the Republican Party indicates, and the future of religious freedom has never been in greater doubt. The center is not holding. The West, cut off from its Christian roots, is falling into a new Dark Age.

This is a very solid plea to practicing authentic Christianity in an age of moral relativism. This book is an invitation for every follower of Jesus to create a rule of life.

You have advanced fair minded arguments in this book. I am bit surprised by your comparaison of CRT to a new religion, and yet I thought you were not religious. If one looks at the functioning or application of RCT’s tenets, they do resemble religious dogmas.

Powerful! A human right manifesto!
Revisado: 04-30-21
I love the powerful stories and their global reach. I was dismay by frequent references to Africa when referring to other nations (such as sponsoring a girl in India and in Africa). This appears to perpetuate the stereotypes of Africa as if the whole continent is a country.
I would recommend the book to anyone who cares about human rights, ministry, humanity and especially students studying helping professions.

Judith Lewis Herman's volume has changed the way we think about and treat traumatic events and trauma victims. Trauma and Recovery brings a new level of understanding to a set of problems usually considered individually. Herman draws on her own cutting-edge research in domestic violence as well as on the vast literature of combat veterans and victims of political terror, to show the parallels between private terrors such as rape and public traumas such as terrorism.

Good book & Very good insights!
Revisado: 01-08-18
This is a good book based on good research and very relevant to our current cultural reality. I was a bit put off by the unnecessary use of vulgar language. Dr Brown could have written her well researched book and present its findings without the use of vulgarity. I feel this limits its reach.
