Better and better!!!
Revisado: 07-28-23
I’ve been listening since the Dragons Blade Trilogy and I gotta say Michael R. Miller is consistently getting better and better. The dynamics he’s created in this world are truly astonishing. Normally I’m not a fan of the darker books in a series but oh man the development happening here is wonderful. I’d like to take a quote from my man Osric here; “Do the job, and do it well.” Michael has done more than that. Especially with Peter Kennys narration. I will recommend to all my fantasy nerds! Can’t wait for the next two!

Fairly solid
Revisado: 09-30-21
I can see where BAP has taken a lot of inspiration from other authors. As an author I understand the struggle for coming up with fresh material. However I find it rather lazy that he rips off names and beings. The story itself was decent but seems rushed. Lacking in some explanations and a little jumpy at times. Details are fairly good. I find the ending was fairly fitting but pushed into it too quickly. Combat scenes are well explained but doesn’t make me feel as if I’m experiencing it myself. Michael Kramer as always is amazing and will always receive a 5 star from me. Kate Reading does okay.

Historia
It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Must read for any fantasy fan

This series took me by complete surprise. I was expecting a decent enough read for sure but got so much more. I don’t want to go to in depth and drag on. So I’ll say this; I believe this series is on the level of the Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings. Not just a good story but purely wonderful. It took all of about 5 minutes to get me interested. Between Islington’s writing and Kramer’s voice I find myself pulled deep into the story easily.
