Historia
Leovander Loveage is a master of small magics. He can summon butterflies with a song or turn someone’s hair pink by snapping his fingers. Though such minor charms don’t earn him much respect, anything more elaborate always blows up in his face, and so Leo vowed long ago never to use powerful magic again. That is, until a mishap with a forbidden spell binds Leo to obey the commands of his longtime rival, Sebastian Grimm. Grimm is Leo’s complete opposite—respected, exceptionally talented, and absolutely insufferable.

Charming fantasy, slow-burn, good narration
Revisado: 10-25-24
Surprisingly delightful fantasy adventure! This book was low on the spice, but high on the feels. I fell in love with the characters and the magical system/world got more interesting and immerse as the story progressed. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this trilogy, and continue the romantic development between Leo and Grimm. This book has a satisfying and hopeful conclusion but there’s definitely more story here to tell in future books. The narrator did an excellent job! His voice was perfect for Leo and Grimm, and his voices were distinct, I would definitely seek out other audio books narrated by him.

Historia
The only thing in Colin Mulligan's life that makes sense is taking cars apart and putting them back together. In the auto shop where he works with his father and brothers, he tries to get through the day without having a panic attack or flying into a rage. Drinking helps. So does running and lifting weights until he can hardly stand. But none of it can change the fact that he's gay, a secret he has kept from everyone.

Excellent Narration, Redemption Story
Revisado: 01-27-24
The narration of this story was perfect. Spencer Goss got me deep inside Colin's head and there were times when I felt choked up with tears. Narration was so spot-on for this character. And he did a good job distinguishing Colin and Rafael's voices.
I love a tortured, self-destructive hero and a redemption story, and this delivered both in spades. Everything about this book was wonderful and heartfelt. Although this can be enjoyed as a standalone, I think it is greatly enhanced by getting Daniel's story first from the first book "In the Middle of Somewhere." The first book sets up how some things went down from Dan's POV and we see Colin through his eyes: a spiteful, angry bully of an older brother. But we also got tiny hints that more might be going on under the surface with Colin. In this book, we get Colin's inner life in a vivid technicolor of confusion, self-loathing, misplaced anger, fear, vulnerability, and the aching hidden sweetness & desire to be loved that underlies all of it. I found Colin and Rafe to be more interesting than Dan and Rex from book 1. Book 1 was good, but Colin's story blew me away. However I am glad I read book 1 first, or I would not have gotten as much out of this one. "Out of Nowhere" is going in the all-time favorites for sure!

Lovely hockey romance
Revisado: 12-12-23
Really cute story about 2 minor league hockey players falling in love. Low angst, good banter! It seems like you either love Lane or hate him- but I loved him! He’s a loveable airhead with no filter (reminds me of Dex from Edin Finley’s book Irresponsible Puckboys) and Jared was perfect for him- a jaded veteran who can’t help but be charmed by Lane.
Narration was very good! He did a nice job differentiating Lane and Jared’s voices & his voice for Jared was gravely and hot
I think fans of hockey romances by Rachel Reid, Edin Finley, Cait Nary, Sarina Bowen will also enjoy this book

Historia
Olly Järvinen has a long way to go. He's got a fresh start playing for a new team, but getting his hockey career back on track is going to take more than a change of scenery. He's got to shut his past out and focus. On the game, not on his rookie roommate and his annoyingly sunny disposition—and annoyingly distracting good looks. All Benji Bryzinski ever wanted was to play in the big leagues, and he's not going to waste one single second of his rookie season. Yoga, kale smoothies, and guided meditation help keep his head in the game. But his roommate keeps knocking him off track.

Heartfelt Hockey MM story!
Revisado: 11-25-23
Would recommend to anyone looking for a heartfelt slow-burn, friends to lovers hockey romance. The story takes place in a fictional NHL called NAHA.
Plot: Olly is an anxious perfectionist with recent trauma who is traded to a new team, struggling to find his footing and regain his confidence while hiding what he sees as a terrible secret (his sexuality). His new roommate Benji is a warm, protective, golden-retriever type, who helps get Olly out of his head.
Thoughts: I loved the development of their friendship into something more. It was not a perfect story and I thought there were a few things that did not get fully addressed by the end, I wish the story had like 1-2 chapters to explore a few more things. But overall it was solid and worth a listen. The writing itself was higher quality than what I come to expect from the genre: some very evocative little scenes and turns of phrase. Overall I really enjoyed the whole book & look forward to more from this author.
Audio: The narrators were very good! Perfect dual narration.
Similar to: I think fans of Rachel Reid, Sarina Bowen’s hockey mm stories will probably like this one. Slower-burn, but great character development and author seems to be truly a fan of the sport, including many hockey details and lingo.

Loved it
Revisado: 09-17-23
Teddy Hamilton & Christian Fox are some of my fav narrators in MM. love the distinctive voices, the way Luke’s speech cadence is just slightly different in a way that implies his “wrong side of the tracks” upbringing without falling into a cheesy accent. Hope these 2 work on more MM projects together! Fun, hot story with characters that warmed my heart

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

oh murderbot, i can't get enough of you
Revisado: 06-25-23
this novella (yes, be warned, it is very short, only about half the length of a normal audio book) is simply amazing!! I think we all can relate to our protagonist, who calls himself Murderbot, but is really just a grumpy misanthrope who is still gamely always trying to do the right thing, despite hating it while he is doing it. Truly an inventive, hilarious, relatable character. Action, humor, sci-fi. Would recommend without hesitation

good story, terrible narration
Revisado: 06-25-23
Unfortunately, I found the audio version un-listenable. The narrator has a VERY odd cadance, with very strange, ill-timed pauses, making the sentences completely choppy. I almost thought maybe there was something wrong with the audio itself (like maybe it was just skipping/pausing/edited poorly). I'm not sure if its a result of how it was recorded and edited, or if that's just how the narrator reads, but it's VERY bad, very jarring and unfortunately I could not continue to listen despite liking the story itself. Will stick to the print copy instead. The story itself is good, but I wouldn't recommend the audio book.

Historia
Rich socialite, inveterate flirt, and walking disaster Tennalhin Halkana can read minds. Tennal, like all neuromodified “readers,” is a security threat on his own. But when controlled, readers are a rare asset. Not only can they read minds, but they can navigate chaotic space, the maelstroms surrounding the gateway to the wider universe. Conscripted into the military under dubious circumstances, Tennal is placed into the care of Lieutenant Surit Yeni, a duty-bound soldier, principled leader, and the son of a notorious traitor general. Whereas Tennal can read minds, Surit can influence them.

surprisingly wonderful
Revisado: 06-25-23
I had never heard of this book or author, but it was mentioned on NY Times end of year book recommendations for the Romance genre. I had no real expectations going in, and I think that made me enjoy it more. Not really a traditional romance...very very slow burn, and not much physical affection between the protagonists, but has a lot of action and does a good job developing the very deep and emotionally satisfying bond that forms between them. Found it very emotionally satisfying, enjoyed the sci-fi elements, engaging plot! Would recommend and will be downloading the author's other novel next. The narrator does a good job, the accents he chose were unexpected but ultimately I got used to it, and it worked.

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Historia
Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.
