West with the Night is the story of a remarkable woman molded and shaped by many things: the African jungle, a certain dog, horses, airplanes, friendships with white men and black. There is no life, no story quite like it.

I felt like I was living the author's experience
Revisado: 06-14-18
As I listened to this book I felt like I was living the author's experience. Her love of Africa, it's people, and wildlife, is contagious. So is her love of flying, and the friends who shared her experiences. The narrator was completely tuned to the author's story and made it come alive.

Historia
It's 1811, and the threat of revolution haunts the upper classes of King George III's England. Then a beautiful young woman is found savagely murdered on the altar steps of an ancient church near Westminster Abbey. A dueling pistol found at the scene and the damning testimony of a witness both point to one man - Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, a brilliant young nobleman shattered by his experience in the Napoleonic Wars.

Historia
A reckoning with the persistence of evil in post-Civil War Atlanta. After leaving Atlanta in disgrace three years before, detective Thomas Canby is called back to the city on the eve of Atlanta's 1881 International Cotton Exposition to partner with Atlanta's first African American police officer, Cyrus Underwood. The case they're assigned is chilling: a serial murderer who seems to be violently targeting Atlanta's wealthiest black entrepreneurs. The killer's method is both strange and unusually gruesome.

A chilling,captivating journey into America's past
Revisado: 03-31-16
Between the author and the narrator, the reader is transported to a world that can't be shared through history books. Characters are created with compassion and a good grasp of the strengths and frailties of human nature. The plot was strong from beginning to end. This reader is haunted by the story but satisfied by a great read.

Where is the end??
Revisado: 04-29-15
A riveting book in every way, until the end. I loved the characters and the complexity of emotions. And then in the middle of the resolution, it ended!! Am I supposed to write the end of the story? This story lacks closure.
