Historia
The guru to the gurus at last shares his knowledge with the rest of us. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman's seminal studies in behavioral psychology, behavioral economics, and happiness studies have influenced numerous other authors, including Steven Pinker and Malcolm Gladwell. In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Kahneman at last offers his own, first book for the general public. It is a lucid and enlightening summary of his life's work. It will change the way you think about thinking. Two systems drive the way we think and make choices, Kahneman explains....

I've listened to audiobooks about astrophysics, classical literature, and even law books! And none of them combined were as boring to listen to as this. I don't think it's the subject at all. I think it was the writing style of the author that challenges you to stay invested.

Historia
There is a book that is shrouded in mystery. Some even say it's a myth. Within its pages is a play - one that brings madness and despair to all who read it. It is the play of the King in Yellow, and it will haunt you for the rest of your days. The King in Yellow is a collection of stories interwoven loosely by the elements of the play, including the central figure himself.

Eloquently Haunting
Revisado: 04-18-24
Fans of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft will find a intermediate author in Robert W. Chambers. Fitting as he was born after Poe and before Lovecraft. Combining both authors poetry and horror into a collection of gripping stories.

Don't get this book!
Revisado: 01-26-23
It's loaded with chapter after chapter of the author's autobiography. If you want it for the short stories, I'm afraid you'll have to skip around to find them because the chapters are not labeled. An inconvenience that I cannot tolerate.

Revisado: 10-13-22
Thankfully there are not as many foreign concepts introduced in this book as there were in the last one. But be aware if you listen to this with headphones. As the volume of the voice actors can drop from a whisper to a screech in a moment. There's definitely many emotional parts that will pull at your heart strings. Whether this is a satisfying conclusion will depend on you. But they do wrap everything up in the end.

While the first book grips you with mystery and adventure, the sequel quadruples the world building. Which makes it difficult to stay grounded to the characters in the first book. Many of which are not featured in it.

Historia
Lyra is rushing to the cold, far North, where witch clans and armored bears rule. North, where the Gobblers take the children they steal—including her friend Roger. North, where her fearsome uncle Asriel is trying to build a bridge to a parallel world. Can one small girl make a difference in such great and terrible endeavors? This is Lyra: a savage, a schemer, a liar, and as fierce and true a champion as Roger or Asriel could want. But what Lyra doesn't know is that to help one of them will be to betray the other.

Great story and great cast
Revisado: 09-29-22
You'd be be hard pressed to find a better format for "The Northern Lights" or "The Golden Compass". With such a large and talented cast, the story won't just be told to you. But the characters will come alive. As for the story, it will keep your interest all the way to the end. Though you might find yourself a little overwhelmed with this fantasy world of daemons, witches, and dust.
