Historia
Considered one of China's great classical novels, Wu Ch'êng-ên's Journey to the West was translated by Arthur Waley in abridged form as Monkey in 1942 and has delighted English readers ever since. It is a riveting adventure story about a priest's quest to obtain holy Buddhist scriptures for the Tang emperor; joining him on this rollicking journey: Sandy, Pigsy, and the mischievous monkey king, Sun Wukong, whose flying cloud and magic cudgel are never far from his infamous deeds.

Great translation, but reader struggles distractingly with names

This a masterpiece of dramatic reading. Kenneth Williams does all of the characters, giving each a unique voice. He really brings the story to life. It is a delightful listen.

Historia
What a relief it would be to be set free from all that plagues us - the inner struggle with anger, or contempt, the habitual sins. Is such an experience possible? John Eldredge believes it is, and in The Utter Relief of Holiness, he shows listeners how they can be that free, through the healing work of Christ in their lives. It begins when we discover what the salvation of Jesus Christ means for our own restoration and find that holiness is an expression of the healing of our humanity.

What did you love best about The Utter Relief of Holiness?
How it speaks directly to the heart of a Christian earnestly seeking to move forward along the pathway to wholeness and holiness. The author's ability to present his message so succinctly comes no dobut from his many years of speaking, counseling and writing. His message rings genuine through and through.
What about John Eldredge’s performance did you like?
His reading of his own writing is excellent. His foundation in drama and many years of speaking allows him to put emphasis in just the right places. I have listened to other books by John read by other readers which are very good in themselves but John's own reading brings out suble layers of meaning beyond the words themselves. His voice really makes one feel as if he's talking to you as an old friend. It's a delight to listen to.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Though the topic was serious he was able to cause me to laugh at myself in way I haven't in a long time. The truth aroused deep joy in my heart.
Any additional comments?
This book will not disappoint a new listener to John's books nor one who has read nearly everything he has written such as myself.
