Historia
Pioneering director J. J. Abrams has delivered an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek into darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Just ok...
Revisado: 04-02-25
Story was solid, if almost a direct lift from the movie. Would have liked more backstory etc as books are usually better at those details to more fully flesh out the story.
As others have said, however talented Alice Eve is as an actor, voice work does not seem to be her strongest suit. General narration was ok, but I found her character - particularly Kahn, Marcus, and Scotty to be...well, jarring. Overly slow delivery, ridiculously punctuated consonants, strangely drawling, and at times whiney. *shudder* Ir got pretty cringe more than once, and pulled me out of immersion in the story.

Perfection
Revisado: 12-04-24
An excellent collection of short stories from MRK. Though I freely admit I was drawn to it primarily for the Lady Astronaut short. What a finale! (I totally didn't get misty eyed. Nope. Not me.) Please let this be a beautiful segue to at least one more full length novel! The universe needs more of Elma York...and we'd love it here on Earth too!

An enjoyable and detailed listen, if uninspired writing at times. Narration was possible, but felt rather flat overall.

Speechless.
Revisado: 03-13-24
Holy. Damn.
I didn't have any expectation starting this memoir, and was not prepared for the weight, the humor, the level of honesty, and the almost fathomless beauty Bono captures, and so personally conveys in his book.
I will listen, then listen again. Unlikely to ever leave the top shelf of my library as it were. One hundred stars, of five.

Historia
It began with a key. One afternoon in 1956, in the home of the Hitchings family in Battersea, south London, a small silver key appeared on Shirley Hitchings's bed. This seemingly insignificant event heralded the beginning of one of the most terrifying, incredible and mysterious hauntings in British history. The spirit, who quickly became known as 'Donald', began to communicate, initially via tapping sounds, but over time - and with the encouragement of psychical researcher Harold Chibbett, whose case-files appear here - by learning to write.

Disjointed
Revisado: 08-26-22
started strong in quantum mechanics, but then the lectures felt like they completely fell apart in their presentation when the subject switched to astronomy. A real shame as that is of more interest to me. Regardless of subject however, the marked drop in quality of presentation - marked with disheveled thoughts, sometimes incoherent thoughts seemingly interjected at random, stumbled words, and loads of "uh..uh..uhh...umm...umm" - was just too much. Unlikely to make it through to the end unless the lecturer gets his presentation sorted out. Its much too distracting to be able to glean useful information from the lecture. Again, very disappointing as the astronomy material was of particular interest.
