Historia
Nate Overbay, a former soldier suffering from PTSD and ALS, goes to an 11th-floor bank and climbs out the bathroom window onto the ledge, ready to end it all. But as he’s steeling himself to jump, a crew of gunmen bursts into the bank and begins viciously shooting employees and customers. With nothing to lose, Nate climbs back inside, confronts the robbers, and with his military training, starts taking them out, one by one. The last man standing leaves Nate with a cryptic warning: “He will make you pay in ways you can’t imagine.” Soon enough, Nate learns what this means.

Solid Story, Great Narrator
Revisado: 02-03-25
Overall, the story was good. Solid protagonist, and his back story and current 'situation' was very well detailed, and made things throughout the story come together very nicely and just made you want to jump into the book and help this guy and his family. Plus there are very easy to hate bad guys, so that helps as to the intensity of the story! Scott Brick, as usual, was fantastic! If I had one complaint, it was a bit to long. Kinda dragged on a bit. Again, good story, just a bit long.

As a boy, Evan Smoak was pulled out of a foster home and trained in an off-the-books operation known as the Orphan Program. He was a government assassin, perhaps the best, known to a few insiders as Orphan X. He eventually broke with the Program and adopted a new name - The Nowhere Man - and a new mission, helping the most desperate in their times of trouble.

Great Action but also a Deep Dive into Evan Smoak!
Revisado: 04-25-24
Great pace, but also some nice moments that show how Evan is growing as a human being (like Jack always wanted). I also just have to say, Greg Hurwitz MUST have a teenage daughter, because Joey is so very well written. I find myself laughing out loud at most of Evan and Joey's interactions. Really fantastic! Lastly, the whole thing with the military "items" behind the main threat in this story (don't want to be a spoiler), is just plain scary. Just very well written as usual.

I was looking for something to fill the void left by my Mitch Rapp & George Guidall obsession! I've listened and registered to a majority of the Mitch Rapp series, and knew I needed something new. I read the reviews, but was skeptical. Then I saw Scott Brick was narrator, so that was a big plus! Suffice it to say, I couldn't wait to get into my car, or start my workouts to continue listening to this awesome book! I'm very anxious to start the next, and excited to see the numerous entries into this Orphan X series!! 100% recommended!!

Good story, but ending was not good!
Revisado: 12-19-23
I'm a fan of dystopian storylines and this story was no different. The story was good, and the character development was solid thru all three books, so overall, the story was good...right up to the very end of the story in Book 3. It was so quick and abrupt, that I didn't realize that the story was over until the narrator says "The End". None of the storylines were wrapped up or concluded. No epilogue. No follow up with any of the characters. Nothing! For all the time spent listening, it was extremely disappointing that it ended the way it did. Like another reviewer stated, it seems like the author got bored with the story, and just decided to end it so they could be done.

I love Vince Flynn & Mitch Rapp, as I've listened to each book multiple times as much for the story as for George Guidall, so I was hesitant to move to a different book, character and narrator all in one. Fortunately, I was not at all disappointed. Listening to book 2 now. Good stuff.
