Historia
Eva Kavinsky wakes in a dark cellar, with no memory of how she got here. Imprisoned with her, seemingly at random, are four men. The only way out is the trapdoor in the ceiling – and it's locked. The single clue about what brings them all here is a cryptic message sprayed onto one wall. Connect the dots. Repent. A camera fixed high above reach is livestreaming this whole nightmare to the world. What confessions are they meant to make to their unseen audience?

Historia
It’s 2011, and Samuel Andresen-Anderson—college professor, stalled writer—has a Nix of his own: his mother, Faye. He hasn’t seen her in decades, not since she abandoned the family when he was a boy. Now she’s re-appeared, having committed an absurd crime that electrifies the nightly news, beguiles the internet, and inflames a politically divided country. The media paints Faye as a radical hippie with a sordid past, but as far as Samuel knows, his mother was an ordinary girl who married her high-school sweetheart.

Good story, lack of research about the law
Revisado: 01-01-17
If you could sum up The Nix in three words, what would they be?
implausible judicial interference
Would you be willing to try another book from Nathan Hill? Why or why not?
I liked the story but, as a lawyer I was bothered by the fact that the judge in the story was " out to get " the main character, which, in and of itself was not the problem. But what was a problem was that he was pushing for new charges and search warrants. That kind of heavy handed meddling is unethically suspect at best and criminal at worst. Then another part was explained away by saying that the judge made it disappeared down a judicial black hole. It was
Which scene was your favorite?
The protest scene in the flash back was my favorite part
Any additional comments?
The side story about the student and the professor I thought was unnecessary and did not add to the story about the drama between the mother and son.

Amazing book on self discovery
Revisado: 01-08-16
The narrator was amazing and the story was incredible. I wanted to listen to this book every day. I loved the story of the lives of these characters and their journey to self discovery. I loved the immigrant perspective of Ifamelu's (sp?) voice in The United States. I was sad when the book ended.

Historia
The stories in This Is How You Lose Her, by turns hilarious and devastating, raucous and tender, lay bare the infinite longing and inevitable weaknesses of our all-too-human hearts. They capture the heat of new passion, the recklessness with which we betray what we most treasure, and the torture we go through - "the begging, the crawling over glass, the crying" - to try to mend what we've broken beyond repair. They recall the echoes that intimacy leaves behind, even where we thought we did not care.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Can't stop loving Stephen King
Revisado: 10-10-14
What did you love best about Doctor Sleep?
I love that this book brings back one of my all time favorite Stephen King Characters, Danny Torrence. I always wondered what happened to him
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I could have listened to thins book all the way through without stopping, but on the other hand I didn't want it to end. I have often wondered where in the Stephen King Universe Danny Torrance and his Shine ended up and now I know. I didn't want it to end.
Any additional comments?
Since I read IT locked in the bathroom because I was so terrified and loved every minute of it when I was 11 I have devoured every Stephen King book I could get my hands on. This one did not disappoint. Loved it so much.
