Historia
As the nation recovers from the Trump presidency, many questions remain: Why was the COVID-19 pandemic so grossly mishandled? How did we get so politically polarized? What caused White nationalist groups to come out of the shadows, and are they here to stay? The answers lie the twisted story of the relationship between Donald Trump and Fox News. Through firsthand accounts from over 250 current and former Fox insiders, CNN anchor and chief media correspondent Brian Stelter unlocks the inner workings of Rupert Murdoch’s multibillion-dollar media empire.

Enthralling story about Fox News and Trump
Revisado: 10-22-20
I loved this audiobook. I learned so much and was both shocked and energized. The author knows this subject better than anybody and I’m glad he took the trouble to share it with us. My only quibble is the author’s narration style. He frequently got over excited about things and would start to over-act, trying to overdo the drama. But much better than being a boring reader so I accept how breathless he often got. Highly recommended.

Historia
Stephen Miller is one of the most influential advisors in the White House. He has crafted Donald Trump’s speeches, designed immigration policies that ban Muslims and separate families, and outlasted such Trump stalwarts as Steve Bannon and Jeff Sessions. But he’s remained an enigma. Until now. Emmy- and PEN-winning investigative journalist and author Jean Guerrero charts the 34-year-old’s astonishing rise to power, drawing from more than 100 interviews with his family, friends, adversaries, and government officials.

Important story about Miller. Hard work to listen
Revisado: 10-22-20
I learned a lot about Stephen Miller but it was not all that pleasant to listen to. The beginning about his family background was too much information and the end was rather hurried with less detail than I wanted.
The narration underwhelmed me. A bit flat as if a student was being paid simply to read it in somewhat of a monotone. However I would recommend this audiobook to others.

Historia
In August of 2014, 29-year-old activist DeRay Mckesson stood with hundreds of others on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, to push a message of justice and accountability. These protests, and others like them in cities across the country, resulted in the birth of the Black Lives Matter movement. Now, in his first book, Mckesson lays out the intellectual, pragmatic political framework for a new liberation movement. Continuing a conversation about activism and justice that embraces our nation's complex history, he dissects how deliberate oppression persists, and much more....

Moving story by community hero
Revisado: 09-06-20
The author has a very moving story to tell. He also narrates it - great to hear his voice despite his rather hurried style. The book is not very long and that’s good compared to many other audiobooks that are twice as long. An essential history for today.

Historia
In this brilliant book, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through an immersive, deeply researched narrative and stories about real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

A very moving book, excellently narrated.
The last chapters moved me to tears.
As the US edges dangerously towards armed civil war caused by unchecked police executions this book should be widely read by all. A very profound work indeed

Based on interviews with more than 100 people in five countries, The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump draws an unprecedented portrait of the first lady. While her public image is of an aloof woman floating above the political gamesmanship of Washington, behind the scenes Melania Trump is not only part of President Trump’s inner circle, but for some key decisions she has been his single most influential adviser.

Revisado: 07-05-20
Well read and very interestingly written, I enjoyed every minute of this book.
It’s scrupulously fair but very factual.
I ended feeling more sympathetic to Melania than I expected but doubt it will change any minds. Highly recommended

Historia
In Dark Towers, award-winning journalist David Enrich reveals the truth about Deutsche Bank and its epic path of devastation. Tracing the bank's history back to its propping up of a default-prone American developer in the 1880s, helping the Nazis build Auschwitz, and wooing Eastern Bloc authoritarians, he shows how in the 1990s, via a succession of hard-charging executives, Deutsche made a fateful decision to pursue Wall Street riches, often at the expense of ethics and the law.

Not much about Trump however
Revisado: 06-07-20
I thought this would be the definitive work about Trump and Deutsche Bank.
But it’s not. It’s an exhausting detailed history of the bank and its endless personalities. Just TMI - Too Much Information. You need a glossary to remember who the author is talking about!
Skip to the last 6 hours to learn more about Trump but this book needs a Condensed Version.

In 2010, the words “earthquake swarm” entered the lexicon in Oklahoma. That same year, a trove of Michael Jackson memorabilia—including his iconic crystal-encrusted white glove—was sold at auction for over $1 million to a guy who was, officially, just the lowly forestry minister of the tiny nation of Equatorial Guinea. And in 2014, Ukrainian revolutionaries raided the palace of their ousted president and found a zoo of peacocks, gilded toilets, and a floating restaurant modeled after a Spanish galleon.

Thrilling story and narration
Revisado: 05-13-20
Weaving a fantastic story about the oil and gas industry Rachel constructs a compelling narrative that kept me enthralled. With the drama of Russian corruption I was never bored for a minute. If only she knew that just two years later the entire global oil and gas industry would crash due to the coronavirus pandemic. Rachel’s skillful narration and voice are the icing on the cake. One of the best audiobooks I have listened to.

Overacting Narrator
Revisado: 05-05-16
I like music and thought I'd like Greenberg's Lecture Series.
Unfortunately he spoils the content by persistent overacting. He overemphasizes too many words in his loud unsympathetic voice with heavy American accent. After a while I found this too annoying to continue.
What a pity they did not choose a better narrator who could took calmly yet interestingly to blend with the subject of music.

Charming but out of date
Revisado: 06-15-15
I'm a big fan of Bill Bryson but this is one you can skip. He makes a solo trip around Europe in 1990 and compares it to one he made with a young backpacker in 1973. He offers many interesting comments along the way but his effete mid-Atlantic accent and mispronunciation of German names can grate at times. But it's all way out of date now in 2015. Listen to his wonderful Thunderbolt Kid instead.

Drawing on his own long-standing battle with anxiety, Stossel presents an astonishing history, at once intimate and authoritative, of the efforts to understand the condition from medical, cultural, philosophical, and experiential perspectives. He ranges from the earliest medical reports of Galen and Hippocrates, through later observations by Robert Burton and Søren Kierkegaard, to the investigations by great nineteenth-century scientists, such as Charles Darwin, William James, and Sigmund Freud, as they began to explore its sources and causes.
