This was a single study made out into a book. It was interesting, but became repetitive and drawn out for a limited topic.
I think more science and less story would allow for the present running time.

Come on Audible! This is clearly a DVD course just dubbed over for listening. There are examples every 5 minutes where he referenced a chart, video or image I don’t have access too.

It is an amazing course, great teacher, but frustrating to no end. I expect more as a customer.

My biggest (but most alarming) complaint about this presentation is the lack of hard data and history notes to back up why I felt boarded on personal option.
While I understand history “changes”; there was no empirical evidence to support many claims. For example, I’ve long learned that The Puritans settled in America to escape religious persecution from back home. Here, the arguement Is presented that they had come to America for financial independence.

Other claims that fly in the face of what I was taught (many years ago) could be correct, but without reference to cases, finds or diaries, it is simply the lecture’s belief. A few examples are;
Slaves were more predominant in the South due to public views, not farming or cotton production.
The push westward was due to strife and discord against he Native Americans, not just simple expansion.
Our founding fathers were driven to act more out of fear than hope.
- I’m not saying this is incorrect data, just without documents or references to back up it up, it’s hard to take in.

Funny after listening to the entire book I completed the title with “I feel”... read the book and you’ll understand why.

Well written, composed and performed. I often found many ideals (speeches) repeated for new characters as they enter the text. As a reader, we are already aware of the speech and should t need to listen to it multiple times. So, an abridged copy might clean out some of these redundant parts.

I’m sorry to say this is a very poorly researched book. Simply repeating information with new revaluations does not account for additional discoveries or data. It seems he goes out on a limb in some areas, mostly linking what people see while hallucinating to scientific data.
It was interesting, and I tried to keep an open mind... but failed prior to the last hour.

Well composed and a lot of data presented, I just can’t agree with some leaps and links that the author concluded.

I used to think a lot about Dr. Tyson... but after the last chapter this book got old. He basically called anyone who hasn't dedicated their life to science "inconsiderate". That's my take.

In addition, the book seems to cover more of what we don't know, versus what we know. And how much we assume to know that there isn't any proof of.

I have enjoyed so many other books on the topic, and it's nice to dwell upon the infinite, but find another book for that.

What made the experience of listening to Pathfinder the most enjoyable?

The first half (reader) and entire story was wonderful. It kept you guessing (as all Card's books) and getting to know each person in the story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Starting in Chapter 9 a new reader takes over. He was SO so so so bad I felt sick. The tempo, the voice, the rhyme and persona of the story hits a brick wal because of this one flaw. His voice sounds like a frog sick from smoking in his death throws. - I wish I was kidding or even smiling, but it's that bad.

For the teachers

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-30-05

Those of you who are part of this circle, this is a must. If you teach, then you can relate and empathise with Teacher Man as he recalls and recounts his exploits as a HS English teacher in NYC.
Rather a slow read, with great highlight and some parts that drag on, perhaps it might be better with the abridged version.
Read by the author, always a plus!
Gold - for those who teach and can relate
Silver - for those who are looking for an interesting read, but slow.
Bronz - for those who want action adventure and wild themes.

The TRUE story

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-27-05

A cunning and accurate account on the events and life of the early years of flight. This book encompasses the factors of the how the first flights came to be, in a clear easy to listen story. In addition to the straight facts, the author also includes external influences such as friendships, family and fate that adds marvelous insight!

The speaker has clear tone, the audio quality is excellent and the writing style makes it difficult to stop. While the history of flight does stretch into modern times, this is only the primal years, during the infancy and the quest for fame.

Palahniuk's New Hit

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-12-05

Again, Chuck Palahniuk skirts the border of genius versus insanity. "Lullaby" is a spellbinding journey through America, for control. Much more of an action adventure, than the title lets on; this book follows a man, Carl Streator, in his quest to control himself, his companions and the "Big Brother" of our world.

Following the same style of writing as "Fight Club" and "Survivor" Palahniuk fills this book with bits of information that make "Lullaby" consistently interesting, and enhances the story. The audio selection is well read and easy to understand.

Final Point; Great story that I couldn't stop! If you liked any other of Palahniuk's work, then this is a definite read! ~ Enjoy
