Historia
Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate - and completely irresistible. A beautiful bastard. Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative - completely infuriating - creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting....

didn't know what I was getting into when I picked this book on Audible just because the name was interesting. Imagine my surprise when minutes after starting hearing it the characters break the tension and hooked up. I was like, where is the tension? The endless chapters about why they can't be together? Now... this book goes straight to the point. Sometimes I'm glad to live in a bubble because if I would have read the blurb or any of the reviews before hearing this book, I wouldn't have given it a chance to it. Anyway... I ended up liking the book and here are my reasons why:
1 - Beautiful Bastard is the story of two co-workers, Chloe and Bennett, who can barely stand each other. She is working on her MBA and he is her boss. At first it seems that neither of them thinks about the other in a non-professional way. However, once they are together the sex chemistry is explosive and they can't have enough. The sex scenes were off the charts. The passion, the lust and the energy are amazing, there is no low moment and you can sense the adrenaline.
2 - When I heard their first encounter so soon I was afraid the rest of the book would take a boring path or worst that every sex scene would be the same. I’m glad to say the author did a good job creating new scenarios, proposing new setting and maintaining an atmosphere of excitement.
3 - The reader (Grace Grant) did an amazing job giving voices to the characters. She managed to create a special voice for each one and even the men voices are great. Every emotion, sensation and feeling comes to you through her voice and it's a really great experience.
Now, the book is not a five stars on my book because of few minor issues.
1 – The ending, around the last two chapters the speed takes an abrupt halt and it is all resolved in an obvious way.
2 – The characters are ok. They have their moments under the spotlight, and we can see a small evolution. However, Chloe for me is hard to figure out and it’s not easy to relate with.
3 – And the panties issue…. I need an explanation for that because it’s creepy!
Overall, Beautiful Bastard is a sexy story with huge doses of passion and lust. With a plot easy to follow, good writing and fast rhythm.

Historia
Raine Cooper is certain of two things: her love for Torin St. James and her destiny to be a powerful seeress. But when she starts having premonitions, they are unclear and disturbing. Worse, they involve Torin. With her mother gone, her father dying, and her best friend in Hel, she is not sure who to talk to. But when the visions become more personal and she foresees her future with Torin threatened by someone from his past, Raine becomes desperate for answers.

Excellent narrator and amazing story

I love Ednah Walters and the 'Runes' series. I've already read 'Seeress' but I couldn't say no to the audiobook version. Let me tell you that I loved hearing someone else reading me a book from a series that never ceases to surprise me.
Stephanie Terry (the narrator) is amazing! she not only has a clear pronunciation and captures each emotion in a remarkable way but she is also excellent with accents. This story has British, Irish and other European characters and she nailed each one of them. She creates a different voice for each character and you never get tired of hearing her. I could listen to her reading all my books.
Now, the story… I already knew it was a great story because like I said I've read it before. However, I have forgotten a lot of details. Raine is still discovering her powers (she is box of surprises) and her relationship with Torin is mature and addictive. He is perfect but still manages to infuriate us by being too protective. Luckily, Raine puts limits and proves she can be independent and also that she can save him sometimes.
There is a lot of danger and mystery around the killer's identity and all the witches congregating in town. The final chapters are full of action and confrontations and again Stephanie does a remarkable job narrating the scenes.
