Fantastic Story
Revisado: 12-05-24
This book was just what I needed to read without even knowing it. I wish the audio volume was louder, and the narrator did a fantastic job! 5 stars for me! Time for me to go on my own personal journey and look for the omens.

Historia
In a post-apocalyptic Africa, the world has changed in many ways; yet in one region genocide between tribes still bloodies the land. A woman who has survived the annihilation of her village and a terrible rape by an enemy general wanders into the desert, hoping to die. Instead, she gives birth to an angry baby girl with hair and skin the color of sand. Gripped by the certainty that her daughter is different—special—she names her Onyesonwu, which means "Who fears death?" in an ancient language.

The Ending Wasn’t Satisfying

I enjoyed this book so much, until the last hour or so. It felt rushed like the final season of GOT. Great narration and great characters! I’ll probably still read the sequel.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

I’m a GD Cheetah
Revisado: 05-11-20
I’m not usually one to read anything that’s not business, science or romance related. Reading this book allowed to me acknowledge a lot of behaviors and thoughts I’d like to address. I’ve always been wild. Always to the beat of my own drum. And I was taught to shrink. Exploring the real me, and not society’s version, has been a roller coaster ride so far. I’m extremely grateful that a role model sent this to me. And as a black woman, I commend you that much more. Excellent writing, excellent content, excellent book.
