Historia
Folly Beach, South Carolina, has survived despite hurricanes and war. But it's the personal battles of Folly Beach's residents that have left the most scars, and they are why a young widow has been beckoned there to heal her own. To most people, Folly Beach is simply the last barrier island before reaching the great Atlantic. To some, it's a sanctuary for lost souls, which is why Emmy Hamilton's mother encourages her to buy a local bookstore, Folly's Finds, hoping it will distract Emmy from the loss of her husband.

Historia
No connections. Play it safe. These were the rules Ivey lived her life by. Until she hit Mustang, Colorado, a perfectly imperfect town where the citizens were welcoming, and one of them included the tall, beautiful, macho-man rancher cowboy Grayson Cody. On the run for a decade, Ivey knew she was supposed to play it safe. But she was tired of being on the run. She wanted normal. She wanted real. She wanted a home. And she wanted Grayson Cody. And Grayson Cody wanted Ivey.

Don't want to give away the ending.

Excellent but Heartbreaking
Revisado: 02-24-16
What made the experience of listening to Fire & Water the most enjoyable?
I wouldn't really call my experience "enjoyable" . Though I thought the book was excellent I found myself crying more than once while listening to this sad tale of a family struggling with mental illness.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nate. My heart broke for him. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about his torment. He was such a kind hearted soul.
Which character – as performed by Monica McKey – was your favorite?
Every character performed by Monica was my favorite ! She did a fantastic job.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was and I did !
Any additional comments?
This book was great even though it made me cry.

Revisado: 01-23-16
If you could sum up The Grand Opening in three words, what would they be?
Hard headed women !
What other book might you compare The Grand Opening to and why?
Hmmm... nothing comes to mind but it certainly got my dander up ! I wanted to strangle the female lead (Peggy) and Abby came in at a close second !
Have you listened to any of Em Eldridge’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes and she's excellent !
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were times I was actually yelling out loud to the characters Peggy & Abby. Peggy was the worst ! Hard nosed obnoxious & bitchy. What did that gorgeous man see in her? I wanted him to dump her & walk away !

Excellent Book !
Revisado: 01-14-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would. It's a wonderful moving story with deep rich characters. It's also a story that needs to continue to be told. One that we must never allow ourselves to forget.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Helena. Her strength, her wit & gruff exterior
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have never listened to these narrators before. They were EXCELLENT ! I especially loved the voice of the Helena character. It was rich & deep & exactly how I imagined her to sound as was narrated by Barbara Rosenblat.
If you could rename The Time Between, what would you call it?
I honestly can't think of one. At first I thought the title was a bit odd but now that I've finished the book I think it's perfect.
Any additional comments?
I think this book is definitely worth the credit.

Revisado: 12-27-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If they liked science fiction I would.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the way it built up momentum. Although I found it a little predictable
What didn’t you like about Eric Conger’s performance?
I could not distinguish between his male & female voices. I found that to be very difficult in the beginning.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No I didn't find it to be that intense. I did chuckle a couple of times though.
Any additional comments?
If you listen to the author's comments at the end of the book you will realize the amount of research that went into it. That helped me to appreciate the book even more.

Don't bother !
Revisado: 12-20-15
What disappointed you about Knight?
I DESPISE this character! He's vulgar, disgusting, Neanderthal & a horrible bully. I wanted to take a baseball bat to him!!! In fact I'm having a really hard time trying to finish this book because of him.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I've read a lot of this author's books and always loved them. This one not at all. I despise the thought of being "punished" or spanked or being tied up..... Is this supposed to be a Shades of Gray type book {which I would never read after hearing about the S&M supposedly in it} ? I was going to listen to the complete series. Now I'm not so sure. If he's what the author considers a Hero I don't think I will. I'll finish the book first & then decide but I'm more than halfway through it so.......
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was great. In fact I was thinking Audible put the wrong name down as the narrator because she sounds EXACTLY like Threse Plummer who I LOVE listening to.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Knight?
If I was the editor I would have scrapped the whole book. Or at least what I've read so far.
Any additional comments?
There were so many negative comments about this book I was surprised it had 4 stars. I wish I would have read the comments but because I've loved everything I've read from this author when I saw that it had 4 plus stars I just went ahead and purchased it.

Yikes ! No Thank You
Revisado: 11-05-12
Would you try another book from David Mitchell and/or the narrators?
By the author probably not, by the narrators definitely yes
Would you ever listen to anything by David Mitchell again?
I'm really not sure. It's possible I would try another one of his books.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't really have one
What character would you cut from Cloud Atlas?
the book was like a jigsaw puzzle. You really could not cut anyone.
Any additional comments?
I struggled to get through this book. It reminded me of an abstract painting...you can't figure out what the heck you're looking at or what the heck it's supposed to mean! I could have skipped through the entire book and just listened to the last paragraph or two .

Very Good!
Revisado: 07-04-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Spider Mountain to be better than the print version?
Yes because of Dick Hill who does such a GREAT job of bringing the story to life.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Spider Mountain?
Well I liked the ending & being a dog lover I especially liked Frick & Frack but not so much the necessary fates of the "man-eaters"
What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I can't say enough good things about Dick Hill !!! He does such a GREAT job of every book he narrates
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Back hills violent justice vs. real law
Any additional comments?
there is a fair amount of violence in this book that some may find disturbing
