Historia
Escaping the rat race and the lure of gold-digging women, wealthy businessman Vance Banning moves to a small, rural retreat, telling the townsfolk that he's an out-of-work carpenter. All he wants is peace, quiet, and to keep away from women. So the last thing he needs is a charitable neighbor, especially a beautiful, gracious, and persistent neighbor of the female persuasion, but there's something about Shane Abbott he just can't ignore.

Ohh no Nora. Don’t romanticize unhealthy relationships
Revisado: 04-29-19
I don’t know if the author knows they wrote a love story steeped in abuse. But it was written in the 80’s? So, you may want to skip this one. It’s pretty hard to listen to. I kept thinking. Ohh girl you’re in for a world of hurt. This guy is abusive and you’re in a bad relationship.

What did I get myself into
Revisado: 11-21-16
Well there is some sexual assault a romantic relationship between 13 year old and an adult. Graphic assault scenes. If I had known I wouldn't have bought it. I get that this is a real exploration but with my history a little too real

Revisado: 08-09-15
Would you listen to Centuries of June again? Why?
no, it was a bit dry and lacking in connection

Historia
From the legendary literary master, winner of the National Book Award and New York Times best-selling author Joyce Carol Oates, a collection of ten spellbinding stories that maps the eerie darkness within us all. Insightful, disturbing, and mesmerizing in their lyrical precision, the stories in Lovely, Dark, Deep display Joyce Carol Oates's astonishing ability to make visceral the fear, hurt, and uncertainty that lurks at the edges of ordinary lives.

what?
Revisado: 05-08-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This just wasn't for me. All the shorts felt contrived and disjointed.
Would you ever listen to anything by Joyce Carol Oates again?
maybe...
How could the performance have been better?
the performances were ok
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
not that I can think of, really missing the foundation of beautiful writing
Any additional comments?
nope
