Tedious and labored
Revisado: 06-09-23
Besides being disappointingly vague in its overall message, I found this book to be very tedious and repetitive to listen to. Combined with the narrator’s thick Australian accent, the book simply became too much of a slog to get through, and I finally gave up after only a couple of chapters.

I really enjoy Jason’s YouTube channel and I’ve learned quite a bit through his and other content creators’ material over the past several years. However, — and I mean this constructively — this book felt like little more than a read-through by Jason of the Q&A in ASA’s Commercial Oral Exam book. Apart from the 10% or so of Jason’s more conversationally-delivered information in this audio title, 90% of it was painfully dry recitation of frequently-asked checkride questions, along with their accompanying wordy answers straight from the pages of the FAR/AIM and PHAK. I frequently found myself glazing-over while listening to rote answers I’d never be able to remember or recite to a DPE. This, sadly, is where this book fails its reader (er.. listener). Jason missed the opportunity to employ his normally affable and engaging presenting style, instead replacing it with a bone-dry oration of “just the facts”, which do precious little to make the information clear, easily recalled, or at all insightful to be able to confidently discuss with or explain to an examiner.
Indeed, Jason DOES pepper the book with little memory aids or the odd relatable example of something, but by and large, the content of this book could use some more — a lot more — pep in its step to be a real asset to preparing for one’s Commercial oral exam.

Historia
Stuck in a corporate job rut and faced with an unraveling marriage at the age of thirty-six, Roz Savage sat down one night and wrote two versions of her own obituary - the one that she wanted and the one she was heading for. They were very different. She realized that if she carried on as she was, she wasn't going to end up with the life she wanted. So she turned her back on an eleven-year career as a management consultant to reinvent herself as a woman of adventure.

As gripping as it is insightful!
Revisado: 01-21-17
On top of being an excellent story-teller and narrator, Roz Savage never failed to paint her account with the nuanced brush strokes only someone who'd actually lived the adventure could do. I marveled at her powers of description, not just of the row itself, but of her self-discovery throughout the endeavor.
This book is at once entertaining, inspiring, insightful, and thought-provoking without being weighty or preachy.
A wonderful read!!
