every bit as good as I remember
Revisado: 09-13-21
Rogue Squadron was one of the first books I read in the True EU, before the dark times of the Disney-verse. hopefully the continued success of the EU will eventually cknvince them of their folly in rendering it noncanon and reinstate it to its proper place, rather than those abominable sequel films they produced. having this unabridged version of one of my favorite Star Wars books makes me so happy. abridged audio books shouldn't be allowed to exist.

What would the world look like if everybody had everything they wanted or needed? Trekonomics, the premier book in financial journalist Felix Salmon's imprint PiperText, approaches scarcity economics by coming at it backward - through thinking about a universe where scarcity does not exist. Delving deep into the details and intricacies of 24th-century society, Trekonomics explores post-scarcity and whether we, as humans, are equipped for it.

That, the "subplot" involving Monica that goes nowhere, and the ending without an actual resolution are the three things I have to complain about this book and prevent it from achieving a full five stars across the board for me.

Historia
When the Colonial Marines set out after their deadliest prey, the Xenomorphs, it's what Corporal Hicks calls a bug hunt - kill or be killed. Here are fifteen all-new stories of such "close encounters", written by many of today's most extraordinary authors. Set during the events of all four Alien films, sending the Marines to alien worlds, to derelict space settlements, and into the nests of the universe's most dangerous monsters, these adventures are guaranteed to send the blood racing - one way or another.

Great anthology, hit or miss readers
Revisado: 06-11-21
I really don't understand how some narrators can be so tone deaf in their reading that they can make an action scene that's supposed to be tense or frenetic into a boring slog, but unfortunately that happens throughout. Worse, the book ends ends on one such poor reader, weakening the overall presentation.

Historia
With the failure of Hadley's Hope, Weyland-Yutani has suffered a devastating setback - the loss of the Aliens they aggressively sought to exploit. Yet there's a reason the Company has risen to the top of the food chain. True to form, they have a redundancy already in place: the facility known as "The Cold Forge". Remote station RB-232 has become their greatest asset in weaponizing the Xenomorphs. However, when Dorian Sudler is sent to RB-232 to assess their progress, he discovers that there's a spy aboard - someone who doesn't necessarily act in the company's best interests.

Good but could be better
Revisado: 03-25-21
At the start, it jumps around between scenes and characters so quickly without any sort of pause from the reader to indicate this, making it a little difficult to follow whose perspective you're in at first. The reader also maintains the same plodding pace regardless of whether it's a talking scene or an action scene, making action scenes more tedious than exciting. There's also so much of the full narrative of the Fall of Cadia that doesn't make it into the story that circumstances go from dire to hopeful to catastrophic without any real reason as to why.

Hit and miss in so many ways
Revisado: 03-11-21
Lacking any more creative ideas, Alexander Freed--I mean Soran Keize--embarks on Operation: Cinder 2, Genocidal Boogaloo.
Quell finally finds her conviction.
But Wil loses his and takes over the role of frustrating wishy-washiness.
Chass is still the worst and somehow manages to end up in a relationship with Quell after three whole books of no actual chemistry or development in that direction.
Kairos is still a nothing character that fails to justify her existence in the story.
