Historia
For eight brief years, before he was tragically killed in a mysterious air crash during the Second World War, Prince George, Duke of Kent, son of King George V and Queen Mary, and his beautiful wife, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, were the British monarchy's - indeed, high society's - most glamorous royal couple; and as golden royal icons, they are still remembered.

I really disliked this one
Revisado: 02-14-24
This has all the elements to make a good story, however, everything about this book is really dreadful. It has no life! The reading by the narrator is perfect for the material in his dry as dust style.i would like to hear this story better told.

Drenched in gore
Revisado: 10-30-23
I hated this an returned it as fast as possible. It just seemed so drenched in gore. I do not understand what people like about this. The world is in a dreadful state right now so when I take a break to read or listen to fiction this is not what I need. Yuck!

I really enjoy Robinson’s descriptive voice
Revisado: 01-08-20
Not only do we get to travel deep into the Yorkshire dales but travel on an archaic air travel to Toronto. The ending, like many of Robinson’s books, was a bit abrupt but sufficient & finally granny helped poor Katie out;-

Very descriptive
Revisado: 12-21-19
I liked this storyline quite well until the very end, when all of the plot lines converged waaay to quickly. Robertson seemed to be ambling along drinking lots of pints and driving through the hills, Dale’s & towns of the west ridings, then murder & other death just cleared up suddenly.
The performance was pretty good. The reader tried to individualize each character with differing accents, tones & pitches, much of it worked well enough, of course the women’s falsetto voices were the least successful.

From the moment Charles Dickens, the century's best-loved English novelist and London's greatest observer, arrived in the city in 1822, he obsessively walked its streets, recording its pleasures, curiosities, and cruelties.

Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

Bruce is a better Poet than prose writer
Revisado: 07-27-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
More descriptive passages. I just think that probably prose, even autobiographical prose is just not Bruce's best form of communication.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
learning something about the culture of the Jersey Shore and how the music business worked at that time.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Bruce Springsteen?
probably not
Did Born to Run inspire you to do anything?
I must confess i have not listened all the way to the end. I just got bored, so you might say I was inspired to move on to other genres.
Any additional comments?
He is a better poet than a prose writer. The stories he tells through his music and songs are far better than this.

Historia
Author and historian Tom Holland returns to his roots in Roman history and the audience he cultivated with Rubicon—his masterful, witty, brilliantly researched popular history of the fall of the Roman republic—with Dynasty, a luridly fascinating history of the reign of the first five Roman emperors. Dynasty continues Rubicon's story, opening where that book ended: with the murder of Julius Caesar. This is the period of the first and perhaps greatest Roman emperors. It's a colorful story of rule and ruination, from the rise of Augustus to the death of Nero.

Revisado: 05-06-16
Mr Holland is a great story teller. He really brings clarity and insight to this period of Roman history. I only wish I could have heard more from Ovid. The reader does an excellent job of presentation. I look forward to more works both by this author and the reader.

Historia
The study of sexual physiology has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic.
Mary Roach, "The funniest science writer in the country", devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. In Bonk, Roach shows us how and why sexual arousal and orgasm can be so hard to achieve and what science is doing to slowly make the bedroom a more satisfying place.

A bit boring
Revisado: 03-22-16
Strangely, this story flattened sex. I guess this is because the entire story told deals mainly with mechanics rather than emotions. An emotional story of sex would appeal to me much more.
The readers tone, ironic I guess, merely flattened the material even more. A serious study of the researchers, their studies in historical context, and insight into their motivations would have been better. We are strange, multifaceted creatures, always fascinating to ourselves.

Historia
From the best-selling author of Public Enemies and The Big Rich, an explosive account of the decade-long battle between the FBI and the homegrown revolutionary movements of the 1970s. The FBI combated these groups and others as nodes in a single revolutionary underground, dedicated to the violent overthrow of the American government. The FBI’s response to the leftist revolutionary counterculture has not been treated kindly by history, and in hindsight many of its efforts seem almost comically ineffectual, if not criminal in themselves.
