Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel, Book 1

The Crossfire Series is my all-time favorite Erotica Romance Series. I loved that Bared to You was written in first person. Also, Crossfire has it all; a damaged, excessively jealous heroine with self-esteem issues and an impossibly gorgeous, broken, damaged, tormented & hot as hell dominant (not BDSM) sexual male with a deep dark secret. He is also well endowed, with stamina & sexual prowess. Gideon Cross & Eva Tramell are two damaged souls trying to maneuver their way through an unorthodox start to their relationship. Gideon crudely comes on to Eva shortly after their first meeting. Later, he has to prove that he is not the crude, insensitive man she first met. Soon lust develops into a passionate, possessive & all consuming relationship as they try to manage their own demons.
Jill Redfield is an awesome narrator. She didn't just read the book as many narrators do. Instead, she acted out each character's part, deftly injecting emphasis in all the right places which definitely made the Crossfire series a great listen.
I gave 5 Stars to the story and 5 Stars to the performance.

The story was good. It was laugh out loud funny at times. However, my biggest problem with this story was with the narrators. When I was deciding if I should select this book, I noticed that the author was reading for the main female character. I have never listened to an erotica romance story where the author had read her own work. My first thought was not to purchase this book for that reason. I finally decided to give the book a chance. Well, I should have followed my first mind.

Lauren Rowe (the author) over-acted most of the story. It is not my intent to be mean spirited, just honest. Lauren Rowe is clearly a good writer but the book would have been a better listen if a proven professional narrator had read & act out the story. The male narrator, John Lane, was a lot better. His reading of the male character was credible the majority of the time. There were times, however, where he over-acted (and sometimes under-acted) his characters scenes

I gave the story 4 stars, the narrators 2 stars & overall a 3 star rating.

Would I recommend this book? Not really. I do believe however, that everyone should make up their own minds.

Love Unexpected

I am sorry to say that this book was a disappointment. The story came across more like a self-help, self-awareness book with some sex & romance included. It didn't have all if the elements that make a true erotica romance story (in my opinion ). It was preachy & boring. I had to force myself to finish listening to this book. I almost gave up three times but conmitted to finishing it. No book should be this difficult to finish. The story in my opinion, lacked depth, good story telling & interesting characters. There was romance & love but it didn't help the first three quarters of the story. When the story focused on the romance elements, the story was bearible. Some sex scenes were good, others were just OK. I felt they could all be improved upon. Some of my favorite series are: "Crossfire Series" Sylvia Day, "Inarticulate" Eden Summers, "One Night Series" Jodi Ellen Malpas, "Blackstone Series" Raine Miller, "Every Thing I left Unsaid Series" M. O''Keefe & "Outlander" Diana Gabaldon.

I liked the narrators. I have listened to both from other stories. They did a good job with the material given but even they couldn't help this story.

I have read this author before & enjoyed her work. This story however, seemed to be a bump in the road.

I give the story 2 stars, but I gave the narrators 4 stars.

Pride and Pleasure

The story was just OK. I did not enjoy the narrator. She was difficult to understand and her voices were too stiff. The story would have been much better with a narrator that was easier to understand and follow.

The relationship between the main characters & the sex scenes was the most enjoyable thing about the story.

Looking Inside

I enjoyed listening to "Looking Inside". I loved both characters in this story but especially Trey. The sex scenes were hot with mild bdsm characteristics (not a fan of bdsm). The story is about grief & coming through it by discovering your true self & finding amazing love and happiness. (I don't want to give away the story line.)

My one complaint is I don't care for stories that use a 3rd person to explain the scene or tell us what the characters are feeling or thinking. I understand why it is done but I feel that it is just as easy to have the main characters verbalize it themselves. I have listened to many 1st person & 3rd person naratives. I prefer the 1st person naratives. Case in point, isn't it sexier to hear a male character coming undone during sex & crying out in ecstacy than having the lead female or a 3rd person telling us that, "he cried out or roared his pleasure"? The female leads cry out in pleasure all the time, so why not the males? Women enjoy "Hearing" the males sexual pleasure just as much as the females. With that said, this book is worthy of a listen.

The narrator Maxine Mitchell was great. I loved her interpretation of Trey's voice, real sexy.

Mr Mysterious

I enjoyed Mr Mysterious. It was erotica & mystery all rolled into one sexy story, two of my favorite things in an audible book.

I enjoyed the role play games between Paxton & Cindy. It was great fun. The sex scenes were hot! Cindy was a hot young woman who knew what she wanted & Paxton was more than up for the challenge and willing to deliver.

The twist & turns kept the story interesting.

The narrators were excellent. They kept the story interesting. It was also great having the Misters & their ladies in this book.

Craving Him: Book 2

The story was good. There was minimal erotica sex in this book compared to book 1. I would have liked more but that's my preference. I enjoyed the narrators Shayna Thibodeaux & I really loved Jason Carpenter's sexy voice. I look forward to listening to more of Kendall Ryan's books. A note to the author, please make your books longer than 3 - 6 hours (7 to 9 is preferred).
