Historia
William Magear Tweed, America's most corrupt politician ever, ruled New York City in the 1860s and 1870s. He rigged the votes, bribed the legislature, and stole on a massive scale. But even in prison, even after escaping, being recaptured, and confessing it all, people still loved and admired him. Tweed's is a stunning tale of pride, fall, and redemption.

Historia
From an eminent scholar of the American South, the first full-scale biography of Thomas Jefferson since 1970. Not since Merrill Peterson's Thomas Jefferson and the New Nation has a scholar attempted to write a comprehensive biography of the most complex Founding Father. In Jefferson, John B. Boles plumbs every facet of Thomas Jefferson's life, all while situating him amid the sweeping upheaval of his times. We meet Jefferson the politician and political thinker - as well as Jefferson the architect, scientist, bibliophile, paleontologist, musician, and gourmet.

Sad excuse of a Bio
Revisado: 09-18-22
simply...an apologist view of Jefferson's life. instead of trying to expel the myths about Sally Hemmings and the trail of Aaron Burr, the author goes out of his way to excuse Jefferson's view on slavery and a POTUS interfering in a trial. couldn't wait to finish this book. May never listen again. last 2 hours the author plugged in more on Hemmings and her children but never did he mention Jefferson counting THEIR kids as slaves...

Historia
Titan is the first full-length biography based on unrestricted access to Rockefeller’s exceptionally rich trove of papers. A landmark publication full of startling revelations, the book indelibly alters our image of this most enigmatic capitalist. Born the son of a flamboyant, bigamous snake-oil salesman and a pious, straitlaced mother, Rockefeller rose from rustic origins to become the world’s richest man by creating America’s most powerful and feared monopoly, Standard Oil. Branded "the Octopus" by legions of muckrakers, the trust refined and marketed nearly 90 percent of the oil produced in America.

All about whom?
Revisado: 04-10-20
The first third of this book is about Rockefeller, SR. This rest is about Jr and everyone around him. I would have still read it if it was about the whole family which is what it felt like to me.

The Words of Meacham/The Voice of Herrmann
Revisado: 10-08-19
What a powerhouse! I first heard Herrmann on a documentary of the president’s and was hooked! I would listen if he read the Bible or War and Peace! Meacham is someone I aspire to write like one day and putting them both together is the Batman and Batman of the literary/audiobook world!

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.
