Something distracting
Revisado: 04-07-24
I started this book on audible and have listened with ear buds. While listening I was hearing another voice very faintly speaking. It sounds like someone is maybe reading in another part of the studio and it’s very distracting.

Historia
Why do our negative experiences seem to stay with us so persistently? It is because they are the fuel for what Eckhart Tolle calls the pain-body, an energetic field that actually feeds on toxic thoughts and emotions. Liberation from the pain-body is not about repressing or denying our thoughts. Instead, as Eckhart's teaching partner Kim Eng reveals, we must develop a complete receptiveness to all experience-rejecting nothing, judging nothing, and resisting nothing.

This is like a bad children’s book
Revisado: 03-10-24
This seems like an afterthought of a book. The meditations have no actual substance or guidance. The flute hole is a silly visualization. I was expecting something more substantial and intelligent given this is Elkhart Tolle’s spouse.

Historia
A random bolt from a DC-8 falls from the sky, killing a child and throwing the faith of a young Jesuit Jesuit into crisis. A boy’s mother dies on his fifth birthday, sparking a lifetime of repressed anger that he unleashes once a year in reckless duels with the Fate, God, or Power who let the coincidence happen. A young woman on a run in Seattle experiences a shooting star moment that pierces her with a love that will eventually help heal the Jesuit, the angry young man, and innumerable others.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 01-13-24
This book will open your heart if you let it. There are some cringe moments that will poke at your inner cynic, but overall, I came to love all the characters in this book.

Let me save you some time
Revisado: 09-29-23
Let me start by saying that I Wally appreciate the core message of this book. That said, I dislike nearly everything else. The book could have been less than 100 pages. The author bangs on the same concept and analogies forever. This is like a book for toddlers or teenagers, or people who are looking to make “spiritual@ their whole identity.

Historia
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun-tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other great thinkers.

Good book but the reading is dumb
Revisado: 04-26-23
The reader uses a sinister tone and it makes the book seem more dark. It’s actually pretty silly. There’s some great history and useful human observations if you can get past the ridiculous performance.
