Saccharine Story, Implausible Cult
Revisado: 02-04-25
I always like these stories, but no quasi-Christian cult escapee would continually exclaim “Oh My God!” Pretty ironic that she was the ONLY character to regularly “take the Lord’s Name in vain” . I don’t think a character fresh from a scripture wielding cult would feel so “free” unless written as a raging anti-Christian vigilante. These stories are nice and enjoyable for what they are, but that was just painfully annoying.

Compelling!, but…
Revisado: 09-22-24
Compelling story, could not let go, but needed more of Emily’s motivation and thoughts to make it work. Nevertheless loved and disliked all the elements appropriately meant to as audience. Narrator superb bar non, excellent!!!

The story was unique and intriguing
Revisado: 04-26-24
I liked the narrator. She was professional not unique and occasionally when speaking Lock’s lines (male character) used a feminine voice. Nevertheless I made a point of looking for these books after listening to them a couple years ago because I liked them so much. I thought the 3rd would be completed but it isn’t out yet. Overall the fact that I’ve listened to them twice and am waiting for the third is proof positive that I definitely enjoyed the story, characters, plot and narrator. Definitely recommend

Excellent
Revisado: 08-07-23
I really enjoyed the perspective of the cultural mix in Israel/Jerusalem during Christ’s time and the two main characters mission. Though historical fiction, I was glad the story didn’t take liberties with the portrayal of Jesus (as sparingly He was portrayed). Narrator was excellent. On the whole the story was fast paced and engaging. I definitely recommend this audiobook.

Light & Insightful, loved it!
Revisado: 06-28-23
1) lovely, light and enjoyable story/narration if that’s what you’re looking for…
2) also resonate depth. Surprisingly insightful and moving, but if you want light and fun it’s readily accessible and wonderful at that level as well

Interesting and well narrated
Revisado: 04-01-23
So many in this genre are annoying but they’re just easy escapism. Pleasantly surprised, Prudence character was assertive in her protective love for her sisters, naive in many ways and I liked that she wasn’t the stunning Diamond but Gideon the jaded Rake had his undaunted perspective and admiration for the unique heroine. Excellent narrator. Been annoyed by so many narrators of this particular genre, but not this one.

Great but

I loved this story, but was irritated with both the character and narrator of Morgan for about 85.99% of the book. And that was such a drag.
Otherwise brilliant.

Great except Wylan
Revisado: 01-26-21
The story was excellent and filled with everything 6 of Crows had with the unfortunate addition of the narrator for Wylan. I stopped listening so many times. Thought about exchanging it but was still so drawn into the story. So I tried skipping around the Wylan chapters and found that didn’t work because I missed crucial pieces of the plot.
Ugh finally listened to his miserable chapters. Strangely enough the narrator performed other characters quite well, but he portrayed Wylan as whiny and sniveling. Weird.
Great story and other performers were once again fantastic so I would recommend this without hesitation in the hope that perhaps others won’t be bothered by sniveling Wylan.

Historia
Josephine McMaster is pretty and smart, but very much a klutzy mess. Finally, at 26, she may have actually lost the dreaded 'McMaster the Disaster' nickname that has followed her around her whole life. Josie's quite content to be single, much to her mother's disappointment. So when a bizarre contest is announced where a socialite is holding a lottery to pick her bridesmaids (and rake in a little extra cash), she can't roll her eyes fast enough, even if it does mean meeting Jake Hall.

Occasionally Cute, but Annoying
Revisado: 09-07-19
I liked the charming Cinderella storyline and I knew what I was getting into when I chose this book. Nevertheless it was predictable although occasionally funny.
The narrator sounded snarky even when the context and character didn’t call for it. She did a wonderful job creating distinct female characters, but a very unsympathetic Josie. The male characters were disappointing; a sadly lackluster Prince Charming delivery and cliche gay character.
The author did a better job creating Josie’s friend, Matthew, and despite the narrator, his character was probably the most endearing.
BIGGEST PROBLEM: I literally had to fast forward and/or mute the endless screeching repetition of “oh my God”! Uughh it was horrible and about as creative as a house plant has personality. Seriously please please lose this phrase...just “NO MORE”
Yet!!! I am going to check out the next in this series since it ended with a mini-vaguely interesting cliffhanger and I’m really hoping it’s better. Really it has to be and I have heard this narrator perform other audiobooks very well so maybe this team will evolve together.
