Good stories and characters
Revisado: 11-07-24
I'm more a sci-fi fan so this was a little out of my norm. I know a little bit about the eggs, enough to pull me into the story. I normally don't like keeping track of so many characters but these were memorable enough to care about and keep track of. All around enjoyable.

Really enjoyed the story and how Ned manages to out smart the opposition. love the characters, House, Sleep, and of course FRANK and even the bad guys Steve lol and that whiny troll.
I enjoy the world to the point I wish there was an EBO game. Great story and narrator. I can't recommend this series enough.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Think Tom Clancy meets Falling Skies. Compelling characters and a lot of action in different places across the globe. Honestly, in the beginning the agents have unfettered access to everything was making me angry, fictional story or not. working on book 2 right now. Really enjoying the series.

The first wing of the Red Cathedral has been conquered, and the next phase of the Possibility King’s invasion is officially on. Strange towers have arrived all across EBO, bringing with them fragments of new and dangerous realities. Some will threaten the Onyx Delta, others will offer new opportunities, and one tower in particular will awaken something in Frank that really should have remained dormant.

My Favorite So Far (again)
Revisado: 11-07-23
I held off on this book because I thought it was going to be amazing and I wanted to shorten the wait until book 5. I was right, the Ripple System keeps getting better with each book. I like that House is coming along and not just Ned's administrative assistant.
The book, like a game is shifting from grinding the environment to guild versus guild with new challenges. The Team ups with Sleep were great fun. Ned is always having to out think his opposition and he doesn't always win.
The Frank bonus material was super cool. Nice to see our favorite Beared Axe be in the receiving end of jokes and serious messing with. Bring on round 2.

Best book so far!
Revisado: 10-12-23
I have to be honest, I almost bailed after the change of narrator. Nothing but the highest regard for CRG work but it was a perfect storm. Changing narrator is normally a nightmare once the listeners get the characters voices in their head. This was further jacked up because CRG also narrates Forgotten Ruin, which I love so it took a couple books to rewire my head so I could just enjoy his version of all the great characters voices.
OK enough blah blah, This book was amazing. All the characters are making an appearance, The underwater battle going on as they try arresting So-Elku was riveting, I was making excuses for more drive time so I could get more guilt free listening time.
I liked that there is a lot of unity use throughout and it continues to evolve. I hate it when there are 'powers' like the Jedi and they are tossing around space ships one minute but 10 minutes later they seem to completely ignore/forget they have The Force in a situation it could make a huge difference.
The underwater battle was a great twist. There is just something extra cool about scuba armor clad warriors and submersible ships shooting it out with torpedo bolts.
I won't put in any spoilers but as for the ending. OMG AYFKMRN. I was clammering to see who was going to get the short end of the stick between the heros, Moldark and So-Elku. Gotta say I didn't see this coming. Like others, sad to see the next book being the final one but we all prefer that to dragging a story out past it's prime.
There are so many potential story points to visit and wrap up, the next one is going to be freaking crazy. Crack addict clinking my phone looking for the pre-order button. Click click click click 😁

Historia
From executive producers of The Walking Dead and Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, comes a heart-stopping Audible Original featuring a brilliant British cast. It’s the near future and seven years since a comet hit the earth and blotted out the sun. The world is a dark, frozen landscape. And then, beastly creatures emerge and take over. A story of apocalypse, horror, and adventure, Impact Winter is a wholly original new saga created just for Audible with immersive 3D audio that dares you to pop in your earbuds and listen in the dark.

Nice story with a few new twists
Revisado: 03-23-23
This was my first 'full production' audio book. Looking at the negative reviews I don't understand the problem with the sound affects or music obscuring the dialog. These days half the planet 'watches' TV by listening to it while face down in their phone and no one complains about the non dialog sounds being too loud there.
I liked the story and the characters were interesting and well played. Beings up interesting issues with the human condition and vise versa for vampires if the day was permanently night.
I liked the length, nice to have a story mostly wrapped up without 15 books.
Give it a try.

Historia
Now the site of EBO’s first completed Red Cathedral, the Onyx Delta has become the center of the virtual world, and the entire player base is descending on Ned’s city to try their hand at the fearsome new raid and reap the game-changing rewards within. At the same time, a powerful, menacing guild is running roughshod over the western continents, razing every city in their wake and winning Frank’s obnoxiously loud approval from afar. But Ned knows that it’s only a matter of time before their forces sail east to the delta and attempt to burn down everything he’s built.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 08-17-22
Just listen to the series from the start a second time as I finished this book soon after release and I want to refresh before book 4.
All the good stuff in the other reviews is true. The narration is top shelf. There are a wide variety of characters, all unique and interesting enough that you'll remember who they are and care about them.
Negative statements about not enough story or too much battle, I don't understand. If this is to be RPG like, then your getting into the grind phase where you don't get something shiny and new to talk about every five minutes. There is a lot going on here, with Ned leveling, the Reality King with the Menagerie, the Siege, the Cult of Information, Ghoon and Sleep, keeping the Oasis running. If you want half dozen book without moving the main story along, go visit ExForce as much as I love it.
I've listen to many other LitRPG and I subjective say this is the best I have found. Most have some 'magic' unexplained way for the player to end up in the game so I don't fault Ned being in pod non stop. Honestly it is more believable and other players have only logged out a couple times so this could have taken place in a few days. Who knows, maybe in the future someone will try and kill Ned in person because they can't get to him in the game Ala Ready Player One.
If the future books continue with good balance of game play, character development, humor aka Frankness, and interesting stories then I'll continue to appreciate every one written.

Historia
The manhunt has officially begun. Now the target of a game-wide Holy War, Ned is forced to flee the Onyx Sands. The odds are stacked against him; Tyrann has tens of thousands of followers, a religion that’s spreading like wildfire, and a powerful god that will be stepping into the world of EBO in a matter of days. Meanwhile, Ned’s allies are a squirrel-exploding bard, a repurposed home security system who takes her instructions far too literally, and a wildly unreliable talking axe named Frank. But even as the inevitable conflict draws closer, change is coming to EBO.

No one is more shocked than Ginger Mitchell, former call girl, current PI, at how well this whole crime-fighting thing is going. In the short time since she returned home to Portland, she’s taken down an entire crime ring and exposed a corrupt police department. Not bad for her first year on the job. But it’s not like all that success made Ginger’s life easier. Hired hit men are after her. Darlene, the boss who killed her mother, is still at large. Ginger’s brother is missing.

Loved it.
Revisado: 04-12-22
I just finished vol 1, heading for this book I was a little worried about some of the comments in the reviews I'd like to address:
A. If 'adult' language offends you, go find something in the PG13 section.
B. Friends and family that have a good trusting relationship are extremely snarky towards each other.
Given the situations that the characters are dealing with, I don't see anything wrong with the language and 'spirited banter' between the characters.
So about the story. If volume 1 was a long roller-coaster ride, this book is saying 'F-it' I'm staying locked in for a couple more rounds. I never looked to see how old the author is....... Warning minor spoilers...
But I appreciate the obscure references to things from my earlier days like the W8. In fact, I love all the cars. I must say a 'Merc' is a Mercury. A M/B is a Benz, or Benzo but if you keep putting great cars in the story I will digress.
I can not give high enough praise for the narration. Candace is amazing.

Enjoyed It
Revisado: 03-28-22
I'm all caught up with Eric's Good Guys and Bad Guys so this looked interesting to hold me over. Enjoyed the 'quick fix' story. While long, there aren't a bunch of loose ends stretching on for 12-13 books.
All the characters are interesting enough to care about. Ginger is equally flawed and a powerhouse. She succeedes by shire will and blishful ignorance a lot of the time. It's nice not having to listen to pages of internal debate lol.
Candace does an amazing job, especially with all the Russian voices. I will look for her on other authors for sure.
