I bought this audiobook during a 2-for-1 sale based on the happy reviews I read but still, I was a little skeptical. When I started listening, though, I was immediately hooked. Now I have another favourite author to read :D will be buying the other series by JS Morin too! Can’t wait to read Galaxy Outlaws.

Intriguing
Revisado: 03-02-23
I bought this book on a whim during a sale and was hopeful that it will be entertaining enough for me in the 30 hours of runtime. And entertain me it did.
I had a good time listening to the audiobook. Narrator did a good job in bringing the characters come to life. Each character had their own distinct voice and it was easy to distinguish one from another. The French and the Russian pronunciation were chef’s kiss.
However, it bugs me that this book ended on such a boring note that I felt a little discouraged to continue listening to Marina’s story, which continues in a second book. The love interests of Marina (note the plural) were basically gone by the end and Marina basically had nothing going for her.
There weren’t enough takeaway from the ending to suggest that there are more exciting things to come in Marina’s story and I am not going to bother listening to the second book anytime soon. Got more interesting books to read and listen to.
But I do want to stress that I did enjoy listening to the book. It’s basically a ‘it’s the journey, not the end’ kind of book.

Narrator did a great job
Revisado: 01-08-23
After listening to Rachel McAdams narrate the first book, it was jarring to hear Susan O’Malley’s narration but after some time, her voice grew and I enjoyed listening. Though not as impactful (in regards to prose) as the first book, I still really love this book.

Historia
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.
