There are many twists and turns, and more than a few surprises in this series. The author does a fantastic job of character building and you grow fond of each character as they move around the galaxy crisis after crisis.

The story is OK. it feels like the main character is in over his head 100% of the time, and there is none of that sneaky use of earth skills like in book one.

A very interesting start

ya know, when it started I was confused, and then kind of concerned about the premise of the story arch. By the end, which will have an interesting twist, I was hooked, and bought the next three books.
I also love the main character, he is a Jason Borne kind of guy, and it translates well to the Realms.

The Earth scientists, and surviving diplomats, fled back to Earth. But once home, after the 28-year gap caused by the spaceship transit, they find an Earth changed almost beyond recognition.

Wow, that sums up my feelings for this series. From beginning to end this series covers all the things you love about space wars. Add in some love, and some comedy, and the pain of loss, and you the reader will love these characters.

Up to this point I was ok with this series, but not anymore. There is clear copyright Infringement here.
The black floating specks in the eyes of the dark magic users could be over looked, but then the writer starts describing the magic as weaving strands of elements like threads, and lastly inverting the weaves to make it invisible to others but the caster.
If Robert Jordan's estate ever hears of this book, a huge lawsuit will be on E. M. Knight
