Historia
On a crisp January day, a presidential inauguration day, a one-megaton blast ripped through the Soviet embassy in Washington, D.C. Subsequent explosions around the globe changed the face and the shape of the earth forever. Out of the ruins emerged Deathlands, a world that conspired against survival. In the blasted heart of the new America, a group of men and women plan desperately to escape the eerie wastes and mutated life forms of their nuclear hell.

Talk about info dumping holy moly!
Revisado: 02-22-25
Here's 15 minutes of nothing but pure info dumping right at the very beginning. Bored? Me too. Bored and left to read something else? Me too.
. It seems just like this is more like a 15-year-old's wet dream paradise; just seems juvenile to me. There is a lot, and I mean A LOT of ---> "SEX! Okay, now that I have your attention, BOOBS! Okay, now pay attention to this next part." I mean who doesn't like a little erotic action every now and then but goddayum every five seconds there's at least one mention of sex, rape, whorehouses, body parts.
There are a lot of weird sexual moments that happen throughout the book that just seem entirely unnecessary and added in seemingly just for fetish reasons. These moments stick out like sore thumbs and have nothing to do with the scene.

My introduction to 40k right here
Revisado: 10-26-24
Absolutely stunning....Although I came to this book annoyed, my friends preach 40k like no other: Emperor this, Horus that. They nagged me nonstop for months....I was scrolling through Audible for a good listen and found this. I said why tf not and was absolutely blown away by the narrator and his performance! The story as well. I must say that Spartan kicked me into the world of 40k, which now, like my friends, is to proclaim the name of the god emperor, even though he doesn't want to be a god.

TOO MANY #*#&#*(# EMAILS
Revisado: 08-18-24
The back and forth between emails was so frustrating and so unnecessary. I get the fact that having a fun little chat log between two characters is a nice touch.....BUT NOT EVERY SINGLE DETAIL FOR EVERY SINGLE EMAIL! Give the reader a full view of maybe the first two emails, then abbreviate the following throughout the rest of the story.
It can go from:
From; Christain Grey
To: Ms. Steel
Subject: Fun
8:02 AM Random place in the world and timezone
*RANDOM EMAIL
TO
Christain: *Random Email*
Ms Steel: *Random reply*
THERE IS NO NEED TO DESCRIBE EVERY SINGLE !@#@@@@ DETAIL OF EVERY EMAIL. It gets so frustrating to listen to go back and forth back and forth for twenty minutes straight

Slow speaking & Fetish Overload
Revisado: 02-11-24
I was expecting something different when I used my credit on this box set, like an actually well-written story, but beggars can't be choosers with a whole 12 books in one set kind of deal. At first, it started off slow and then picked up a little, but then a whole tidal wave of unnecessary weirdness just crushed my dreams for a decent listen. I can safely say wholeheartedly that I will never in the history of ever have this story play without earphones unless I want to be looked at like a perverted psycho.
The Narrator was okay in some parts of the story that required slow narration, but for the rest of the story was just annoying and forced me to turn up the play speed a few notches.
If you like rape, child sex slaves, pedophilia, necrophilia, and all of that weird shit, then this box-set is for you because, holy hell, there is a lot of it. With some chapters even dedicated to it. I think there needs to be an investigation into this because holy hell it was descriptive
Looking past the weird fetishes, there was a decent story hiding among all the sex stuff. It was tough to follow, but if you paid attention, you could attempt to feel like you got your money or credit's worth on this box set.

Historia
It was hailed as the answer to the obesity epidemic; a pill that allows you to eat anything you like and still lose weight. Millions were attracted by the promise of a leaner, fitter body, but there was a fatal and unforeseen flaw in this new panacea. A tiny microbe, lurking within, slowly infects the users. In turn they pass the infection to others with a sneeze, a cough or a simple kiss, and before long tens of millions are infected and turned into mindless, shambling wrecks, with the sole purpose of existing to eat.

There is no book, only fat zombie fetishes here!
Revisado: 10-21-23
It just seems to me the only purpose of this book was just for an erotic fetish and not really a genuine zombie story, there's so much I literally just stopped listening after a certain point, I tried to make it through to the end (4 hr & 15m is where I stopped) I really did but there was just no story to it. If there was something more to this book other than erotic action, I couldn't find it.
The narrator was decent at least.

No one expected Ragnarok. The miles-wide meteor fell from the sky in 2030, taking most of humanity with it. The lucky ones took refuge in the Bunkers. The unlucky ones had to deal with the meteor's aftermath...and the alien virus it unleashed. Now, that virus is evolving, creating an army of mutants and monsters, mixing Earth genetics with something...not Earth. As humanity struggles in the wastelands of what's left, it might already be too late...unless a band of young heroes can rise up, and fight.

What am i even listening too?
Revisado: 10-01-23
In the beginning, it was blatantly obvious Fallout Reference after Fallout Reference to the point of annoyance.
Then, it was the OVEROBSCENT use of the word "Raider." Raider this, Raider that, I'm a raider, you're a raider, we're all raiders....The word choice was very poor.
I kept listening, though, hoping it would smooth out, and it did for a while until it the whole post-apocalyptic vibe turned and twisted into something along the lines of "what's even going on anymore!" dragons, aliens, mutant abominations, zombies, space ships, I still kept listening all the way to the end, and for the life of me I'm still not sure what I listened to.
The narrator just made everything sound juvenile and childish, which made any intimidating dialogue sound like a fussy 12-year-old.

The first few chapters were great then it got meh
Revisado: 08-06-23
I'm not going to lie the first part of the first book got me into it with the two cousins leaving the bunker, and then it turned into just another generic military society apocalyptic story.
Eventually, it got to the point where any character dialogue took ten hours to finish with the OVERLY DRAMATIC way the characters talked. It was as if every character was talking like Shakespeare after a certain point. I couldn't even finish it, I wish I could get my credit back. I had high hopes for this in the beginning.
Narrator - 10/10 phenomenal job, perfect emotions and cadence through out what I got up to.

Another Post-Apocalyptic military jargon story
Revisado: 02-01-23
The narrator makes every female sound depressed and then screams loud like a drill sergeant at the slightest aggravated tone description.
First book sets up the story well
Second book: you get a tiny tiny tiny piece of the main story surrounded by A HUGE TIDAL WAVE of random unimportant characters with no relation to the main story other than being in the same apocalypse! So much so that I couldn't finish the boxset.

Narrorator really sounds like he hates his job
Revisado: 12-19-22
First off don't watch the movie and come to listen to this book thinking it's the same. I'd recommend the book first.
I loved the book but dear lord the narrator has no emotion no voice change for different characters and no emphasis on anything it's the same monotone cadence the entire book so I'd recommend a paperback or hardcover.
Narrator:
"Ah! My arm sir! I think it's broken!" How could you look at that line and read it with literally the same flat most uninterested voice you use to describe various shades of the same colored paint?
"ahhhhh my arm sir i think its broken, ahhhhh."
