Thought-provoking, academic, sharp, insightful. Smart. Shocking. Genius writing about awful geniuses. Painfully personal at times but globally significant.

Enjoyed the plot twists and voice acting, but disliked the ending, which is left unfinished for a sequel.

Tom Lake must be entertaining read in hardback or paperback, but to have this marvelous, heartfelt, romantic, convincing story narrated by Meryl Streep? Simply fantastic.

I had previously read this book on paper and enjoyed it, but found this audio version even better! The narrators truly are actors! With their voice talents and Rodenberg’s compelling writing style, I felt I was right there with Napoleon and his entourage of remarkable friends and foes. Terrific!

This book kept my interest from start to finish! Love the narrator too. I was fascinated by the authors note at the end because I had no idea that Martha Ballard was real person, an 18th century midwife who delivered over 1000 babies without losing a single mother!

It took me a minute to stop comparing this work by author and narrator Joely Fisher to the amazing books by her famously flawed but genius sister, Carrie. (If you haven’t read or listened to them, do it now!) But this memoir held my interest, revealing more on what it’s like to be the daughter and sister of very famous and talented people while navigating a successful career in showbiz yourself. Fisher pulls no punches, confessing exploits and secrets others might censor. Recommend.

Kelly Fordon’s imaginative, beautifully written short stories bring Thomas Woolf to mind. They take us into the minds and hearts of everyday people facing real-life troubles: the vagaries of childhood, the lessons of adolescence, the challenges of marriage and suburbia. Her insightful stories ask, what does it mean to be a human, a parent, a wife, a friend? Moving, sometimes unsettling, often amusing, these stories are worth a listen.

Anne Enright’s language is so superb, her characters, dialogue, and settings so honest and convincing that her novels become reality on the page. I am always sorry to reach the end of her novels. This is not about plot, so don’t ask me for a summary of “what happens.”
The Wren, The Wren is a loving yet unflinching exploration of the human mind, of the human connections we make and break and what we leave behind… The good and the bad.
Literary in the very best sense - She makes art with language. She is more than a writer or a poet. She is a magician.

Steady building tension: Single White Female meets Fatal Attraction. Up-to-date version of an old story (dangerous crazy woman infiltrates the main character’s seemingly perfect life and proceeds to destroy it), but this time in the time of Covid, podcasts, Ubers, cell phones, etc. Entertaining and riveting. Great narration and clever structure: fictional interviews, podcast recordings, and fake BBC news clips throughout. Enjoyable.

I loved this fun and easy to listen to story. The voice actors are terrific. I especially loved the voice of the octopus. This is a sweet, surprising, and non-stressful story. By that I mean there’s no violence, profanity, or frightening action sequences, yet there are plenty of moments of humor, intrigue, and enjoyable suspense.
