This Book Was EXCEPTIONAL…. UNTIL
Revisado: 03-02-25
What was truly a magnificent book, turned into a 1 sided, completely exclusive, pandering socially racist, sexist, politicized garbage trap.
The most NARROWLY- SCOPED book I’ve ever heard.
Essentially, what I gathered is… “ you are completely worthless UNLESS you are marginalized”.
Thanks to the author, I know that I mean nothing because I’m just “me” and do not identify as a SIDE of the political spectrum.
This author ABSOLUTELY LOST THE PLOT!
Ugh.. I’m actually sick because it was so rich until the hatred of others started.
This author is EVERYTHING they hate about the world. I’m heartbroken and disgusted by this book.

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.

Name Dropping??
Revisado: 10-08-24
Absolutely not!!! I researched any name I did not know because I needed to know more about them, or their style of design or cooking.
This is book is absolutely outstanding! So much so, less than 15 minutes in, I pulled out my stationary and wrote a note to Mrs. Garten.
What an exceptional memoir.
This is truly a game changer for me, as I feel differently about myself after reading this book.
(Note: As I read this review, it makes no sense because I did not sleep so I could listen straight through!)
Now, one of my FAVORITE listens on Audible!
Thank you Ina!!

Historia
Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.
