I loved the book. It was short, concise and non repetitive. Her story is inspiring but her ability to make us realize that our fullest potential is inside of us and that fear can take it away from us. God wants us to succeed and be all that we can be, if he wants that’s for us we must not stop ourselves from reaching any goal. It’s always a plus when authors read their books.

Historia
Islam once gave birth to a great civilization that respected religious diversity, freedom of conscience, and scientific thought, and Islamic knowledge contributed to the birth of humanism in the Renaissance. Here, renowned spiritual teacher and Sufi sheikh Kabir Helminski gives us a compelling interpretation of spiritual or holistic Islam that will hearten contemporary Muslims looking for a faith suited for our times, and providing non-Muslims a brilliant introduction to this rich spiritual tradition.

Hmmmm I get it but also maybe too far out there

It seems like the author is pinning Islam against Sufism Islam rather than attempting to help the reader understand some of the spirituality that is found in Sufism without judging Islam imams, the ritualistic manner of Islam, and even the choice to wear hijab etc. I guess I personally didn’t appreciate the attempt to contrast it with Islam and I didn’t like the way he mention that imams didn’t speak about problems in our modern world, aspects of spirituality etc etc because they do. I mean just type Islam on YouTube there’s sooo many amazing scholars. I’ll continue to listen with an open heart but also knowing that the Quran is the ultimate truth and that whatever is mentioned there no matter how we twist and turn it, we cannot just add our two cents.
