The plot reads like it was planned by a precocious 9 year old who passed it on the a superb word artist. Well written with great dialog but the action is linear s as nd the characters flat.

The word smithing is great. Lots of really nice pride, but the plot is totally bogus. The male characters are a bit more developed than the females who are mostly one dimensional. The female protagonist is better at describing the feelings of others than her own. The story is quite linear and both unsurprising and unrealistic.

Great lyric writing. Rowling is a master of adjectives. But the story is dark black with little to recommend

The Worthing Saga started strong. But the characters never unfolded. Any mystery about why they thought or acted was filled by an omnipotent invisible narrator who supplied their motivation. The last third of the book was painful.
The author is writing a pretty heavy-handed morality play with a lot of foreshadowing. Not a good combination. Overall, I think Aesop did better with his compilation of fables.

Karen White hits a home run in this book. I have to wonder if her portrayal of neurotic, guilt-ridden women comes from within. The plot is just a vehicle to move the people, all well-developed and complex. But the dialog between Eleanor and Helena is first class. I especially like the inner thought that provide the reasoning behind the words

Scott Brick could make the McGuffie Reader exciting. Even though Raising Atlantis makes less sense than the McGuffie Reader, he kept me engaged enough, even through the disappointing and inconclusive ending.
The story is bogus science fiction that would be better off set 10 centuries in the future than 20 centuries in the past. Sorry, Author, but I am just not buying the suspension of the laws of nature in a contemporary setting.

I’ve never before deleted a book without finishing, but this was too much. I don’t need to hear the whining of an insecure narrator and after 5 hours of giving it a chance, it’s time to cut my losses. That’s 5 hours I’ll never get back

The author, Victor Methos, manages a good deal of character development in a short amount of time. But it’s strength is the author’s ability to write dialog that is truly moving.

The plot is reminiscent of the soap opera when you learn the death of the protagonist was actually that of an unknown identical twins. Good writers don't need those types of devices. I suggest skipping to the last page, avoiding the frustration of a crippled plot, because it foreshadows a new and interesting relationship.
