Everything about this experience was wonderful … the narration by Ron and Clint Howard, the heartwarming and real story of growing up in Hollywood, the honesty and camaraderie between the brothers. It was so refreshing to hear how their parents so ethically managed their careers without ever allowing the boys to have the pressure of being the breadwinners. SO many fabulous stories, along with the joy of getting taken back in time when I watched Ron in shows as a child.

Don’t miss this one! I loved every minute!!

Just buy it and take it all in. Brianna is so tapped into truth ... it’s hard to put into words just how impactful this book is. Her voice and her words resonate deeply. I can’t wait to listen to it all over again.

Pure delight!!!

There aren’t enough words to express how much I loved this audiobook! I was immediately delighted by how candid, real, and hilarious Geena is!! I laughed out loud so many times listening to this book, and I sincerely loved how honestly she took us through her various stages of awkwardness as a child and teen, with each quirk endearing me to her even more. In fact, I related numerous times to her idiosyncrasies and was so grateful she was willing to share them with such openness. Ditto with her engrained politeness stories ... again, so candid and often SO funny!

I am SO happy I had this time with Geena. She is such a gifted storyteller, and it gave me so much joy to listen to her. I am in awe of her myriad talents and passions that extend beyond her amazing acting and body of work. DO NOT miss this gem!! You will love every minute of it!!!

I feel overwhelmed with awe and gratitude from the gift of this remarkable audiobook experience!!! I could NOT pull away from these incredible women. Having these candid conversations that we’re invited into between this mother and daughter was a truly unexpected gift. My mom and I were very close and talked about everything, but I still wish I’d thought of things to ask her before she left for the other side. I LOVE that Diane and Laura created this precious space in time for these honest talks ... I laughed, I teared up, but mostly I felt privileged to be part of it all. Please don’t miss this audiobook ... it’s a gift you won’t soon forget.

Absolutely LOVED this book!!!

I’ve always liked Jane Fonda, and I’ve always wondered how she could grow up remotely sane after losing her mom to suicide as a child and being raised by her cold, detached, and famous father. Even in films, I could sense a vulnerability about her, despite all the bad press that has been hurled her way for being outspoken. Well, I can tell you that I understand why now: Jane shares her story with such total vulnerability, such raw honesty, that I was drawn completely in. She IS fragile in several ways, and I’m not at all surprised why. She was so brave in telling her story ... I sincerely feel the deepest admiration for her. I couldn’t wait for my “Jane time” every day. And then, of course, there’s her voice. Experiencing this book as an audio is a MUST. She is a brilliant narrator, and her story is truly riveting. Don’t believe everything you think you know about this amazing, beautiful, outspoken, vulnerable woman ... there’s far more under the surface than you can believe, and this book is now one of my absolute favorites.

Life affirming!

I absolutely loved this book! Some of the enactments of dialogue were a bit goofy sounding or overly dramatic, but I could tell that it was only because the author put so much of himself into the narration, and he was trying to make it feel realistic. So if you know that going in, you won’t allow that to deter your engagement with the content, as the book is truly life affirming about how we go on as souls, merely in a higher frequency. I highly recommend this book if you’re grieving or curious about life after death. You won’t be disappointed.

A Sublime Gift

I adore Maya Angelou; she could narrate the dictionary and envelop the listener in her buttery resonance. But this book in particular touched me deeply, because I, too, had a unique relationship with my mom, and I relished the telling of their beautiful story.

Don’t weigh your options; just download this treasure and let it lift your heart. The four short hours you’ll spend with Maya will be four hours you may want to turn around and repeat. I know I did. :)

Enchanted April is my favorite modern film of all time, and discovering this audiobook version was a complete delight. Nadia May is nothing short of a perfect narrator, bringing each character to life much like the actors in the movie. The story is timeless and thoroughly engaging, filled with glorious descriptions, amusing dialogue, and the delight of propriety slipping away in favor of affectionate friendships and honest observations of men, marriage, and tradition. And all of this occurs against the backdrop of the romance and beauty of Italy, evoking a certain brand of magic on each inhabitant of the castle that is immensely delicious. Take some time for yourself and relish this gem!

Oh, how I adored my time with Carol listening to this gem of a book. I’ve rarely laughed so hard during an audiobook ... or been so moved to tears. Carol is one talented, humble, classy, and hilarious lady. I’ve loved her all my life, and this book made me love her even more. Don’t miss this one ... it will bring more joy into your life than you can imagine.

Full disclosure: I adore Kate Mulgrew and have for many years. But this is not merely a biased review from an ardent fan; this book, and Kate’s completely captivating reading of it, deserves every bit of praise I’m giving it.

First, Kate is a brilliant writer. Her sentences ebb and flow, often like poetry, and as a reader, you can imagine every detail of the settings, the mood, the chemistry, the tension. It is a beautifully told story of a remarkable life and career, full of intimate surprises and raw emotion. We at times get to be onstage, at auditions, and on television with Ms. Mulgrew, and it is delightful. But what brings it all into the glorious experience that listening to this book is, is Kate’s inimitable voice. And not only her remarkable timbre, but the pitch-perfect way she reads every line, with exactly the inflection you wish for, accompanied by varying tones and accents in all of the authentic and compelling dialogue.

I only put this audiobook down because I had to: to work ... or shower ... or sleep. And when it ended, I cried. Not only because the ending touched me, but because I didn’t want it to end. Kate is at once elegant and tough, ambitious and gracious. I will miss our time together immensely.
