From the opening scenes, I knew the author had me. I literally could not stop listening . The author’s choice of location in the Northern California foothills was the perfect backdrop for a cast of characters I felt immediately invested in. The narrators fantastic voicing of these quirky and lovable characters made them all the more endearing, really capturing a family dynamic and community that has me eagerly awaiting the sequel.

Fantastic start to a new series!

The author creates a seriously well-constructed world. I became attached to each imperfect but colorful character as the story unfolded. I highly recommend a listen! Loved the narration. It added an entire layer of humor to the book which made it hard to listening to. I found myself up until the wee hours enjoying it. Bravo!

This book is an enjoyable read.

This book was exactly what I hoped it would be. It was exactly what I was in the mood for at the time having just finished he who fights with monsters nine . A broken bond was fast moving and entertaining,funny but not silly. The only reason I didn’t give this book straight fives in every category was that it’s exactly like a ton of other books that I have enjoyed so if you’re looking for more of the same ,and you enjoy this sub genre, then spend those credits, my only real gripe with this particular installment is that it’s far too short the writer should disregard what the editors are telling him and put two or three of these books together .I will definitely continue reading this series, but I will definitely wait until a few more of them have come out and hope for a sale price. I’ll hope they combine three or four of these books together for one credit as they have done with many other series I’ve read and purchased individually, then saw them bundled together after the fact.

If you have loved the Dresden files in the past you will love this book!

I have been a huge fan of the Dresden files since the very beginning and have awaited this book for years. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book as it is much like the rest of the series, a crazy demolition derby with a plot in a well-crafted world with wonderful characters and a detailed magic system. It’s a ton of fun to read. The only thing I would say about the book that I found disappointing was that James Marsters completely forgot what Ramirez sounds like in his other outstanding readings of this series.Aside from the problem with the narration, this audio book is great it grabs you right from the start and you won’t be able to put it down until you’re done! Mr. Butcher you have not lost your touch .
In conclusion I’d like to say that I love where he’s going with the story and that my only complaint is that the book is too short . It left me vaguely wondering if the book to be released in two months is the other half of this story. That being said I don’t think this has anything to do with the author I think this is his publisher trying to get us to pay for this book twice.

Five star story read by two start reader. The Original reader of the first two books did such a great Job that the new readers inconsistency of accidents and voices just cannot compare with
