Historia
Angela Marie has spent all of her thirty-five years on Meadow Falls, the farm that’s been in her Texas family for generations. It wasn’t her plan. It was an obligation. Now that her parents—less loving kin than strangers—have passed, the whole shebang belongs to Angela. And a legacy she never wanted is hers to uphold. She can’t forsake it now. Her beloved nanny, Mandy, who was always more of a mother, needs a caregiver herself.

NOTHING HAPPENS
Revisado: 08-11-24
This book wasn't bad or good, it was just boring. Literally nothing happens in this story. Any point of tension or conflict in this plot is totally glossed over and makes the story really uninteresting. The characters felt shallow and their relations with each other and the world felt thoughtless and uninspired. If you want a light read with no plot and minimal character investment this would be good to read but I personally would never recommend this book. The narrator was fine.

Could have been a good book
Revisado: 06-01-24
This story stared off promising. I enjoyed the world building and the main elements of the plot. But the characters felt flat and the story end up being quite disappointing. This book had a lot of potential that it unfortunately did not meet.
The main narrator was excellent.

He’s cold and ruthless, so you run away, but then you get captured by more pirates, and just as they’re about to hurt you, your pirate husband shows up, with his sword to the captain’s throat as he roars, ”Touch my wife and I will destroy you all.”

Overall Disappointing
Revisado: 04-25-24
This book was very underwhelming. the story was under developed, the characters didn't have strong motives, and the romance was just not there. Every time the story got to an interesting part it just got glossed over and by the end I was left feeling unsatisfied. If you just want to read nonsense about pirates then you might like it but for me I'm not even going to bother with the rest of the series.
the natator was fine but definitely felt like an older style of naration.

One of the Better BookTok Recs
Revisado: 05-30-23
As far as book-tok recommendations go, this one wasn't that bad. The writing was pretty good, the characters weren't annoying and the author avoided tropes I hate.
The spice level was low, the plot was rather simple and the characters a little flat. However, since this is the first book in the series I'm holding true judgement until after I read more.
The narration was average. Not my favorite but it didn't pull away from the story. At this point I'd recommend it but not rave about it.

Disappointing
Revisado: 04-16-22
This book was so highly recommended but did not live up to the hype. I didn't care for the writing. Not only was it nondescript and confusing at times but some of the descriptors were just plain weird. I also didn't find the characters very likable. Their banter felt forced and by the end I really wasn't rooting for them. The resolution at the end was rushed and incomplete.
I like that this book continued a trend I've been seeing in modern romance books where the characters communicate concent very clearly and consistently. And the main female character being Asexual was refreshing diversity (although I would have liked more content about that).
Over all, this book wasn't a total waste of my time but I would not recommend it. very disappointing for how much people were talking about it.

I love the Winston Brother Series and the Solving for Pie Series. although I don't think this book is strong enough as a stand alone, it is a nice addition to the Green Valley Universe!

Even Better Than the First Two Books
Revisado: 09-14-21
I was already a big fan of this series before starting this book. Now I am OBSESSED. The world building is excellent. the characters are more and more lovable and interesting the more you get to know them and I love how the story progresses and unfolds.
My only critiques would be that 1. there might be one too many sex scenes (though honestly, I'm not that mad about it) and 2. the next book doesn't come out for over a YEAR!!! But if 'A Touch of Chaos' is as delightful as 'A Touch of Malice' it'll be worth the wait.
Lastly, as always, Meg Sylvan did a masterful job narrating. Very enjoyable to listen to.
