Historia
Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Lots of mouth noise, swallowing, etc
Revisado: 03-30-22
The book is amazing and horrifying.
The performance and voices the reader is capable of are awesome, with one caveat: there's LOTS of mouth noise, swallowing, etc. If you're in headphones, be prepared for computer fans coming in and out of audible range suddenly.
if you're listening in the car you most likely won't notice it, but I sometimes listen in headphones and it drives me nuts.

His debt has driven him to lie in wait by the old forest road, planning to rob the next traveler that crosses his path. But today, Kinch Na Shannack has picked the wrong mark.

I want to thank reviewer Suspect.
Revisado: 02-09-22
Pretty much everything he/she/they have hated has been an amazing listen/read.
This book is no exception. I really enjoy Buehlman's writing, and have previously listened to Between Two Fires which is an amazing, gory, demon-slaying Plague-era tale of historical fantasy fiction. When I saw this came out I'd been eagerly awaiting the chance to read it or give it a listen.
I got started a few days ago and I'm hooked. From the first person conversational prose of the narrator, the Gaelic worldbuilding and Celtic history infused fantasy, to the narration (in an Irish brogue, which I assumed was by a real Irishman!)...it's all great.
So thanks, Suspect, for the 1 star review to lead the way. I've added almost all of your other 1 star reviews to my wishlist, as I'm sure they're gonna be great.

Scattershot Boilerplate
Revisado: 01-04-19
Not a fan of Ryan's presentation. He is sincere, and I don't doubt that he believes what he is saying, but an author does not a VO actor make.
The advice in this book is familiar to anyone that is aware of the self help zeitgeist. Nothing groundbreaking here.
