Historia
Raised as an orphan by her aunt, Chariline has only been told a few pieces of her parents’ tragic love story. Her beautiful dark skin is proof that her father was Cushite, but she knows nothing else. While visiting her grandfather before his retirement as the Roman official in the queen’s court, Chariline overhears that her father is still alive, and discovering his identity becomes her obsession. Both her grandfather and the queen have reasons for keeping this secret, however, and forbid her quest. So Chariline sneaks on the ship of a merchant trusted by friends.

Liked the story, tolerated the portrayal of characters' voices
Revisado: 12-25-24
I enjoyed the storyline and characters. I was skeptical of the other reviews which made negative comments about the narrator...until I encountered the voice of Priscilla. I tolerated the voice of Carolyn, but Priscilla's definitely did not match the character- it was an exaggerated shrill and over acted. The narration of the story and the men's voices were done well, hence a 3 for the performance.

Historia
When librarian Laura Griffith's 16-year-old sister disappears on a frigid February day, leaving only a brief note behind, Laura resolves to do whatever it takes to track down the runaway teen. That includes recruiting ATF agent turned PI James "Dev" Devlin to help. But the deeper he digs, the more he begins to suspect that something sinister is at work in the girl's disappearance. And the closer he gets to uncovering the truth, the clearer it becomes that the situation isn't just dangerous - it's deadly. Chilling and at times terrifying, Trapped is the latest thrilling listen from Irene Hannon, the queen of romantic suspense.

Similar formula to the previous storyline
Revisado: 07-23-24
The storyline, specific to the romantic development in the story is very similar to the previous book. The romantic line in the story is predictable. The performance continues to be inconsistent- odd pauses, intonations (at times are off), and at times over acted. The storyline is a little slow. Overall it was an okay read.

Vanished, the first book in the Private Justice series, follows reporter Moira Harrisons, who strikes a pedestrian while driving late one night on a wooded road. Dazed from the crash, Moira sees a second man appear at her window and assure her everything will be all right - but then she passes out. When Moira wakes, both men are gone, and a mystery awaits.

The Performance is....
Revisado: 07-23-24
The storyline is average; I was mostly engaged. The performance was inconsistent and distracting. The narrator, which at times I thought was AI moved between sounding robotic; with awkward intonation, GPS-like pronunciation of words and pauses to being very overacted. Additionally, the flow of dialogue came across as unnatural. Overall the storyline is okay and predictable, but remains entertaining. But the performance may move you to stop listening all together.

Historia
After being branded during the battle of Jericho, Moriyah has had no prospects for marriage - until now. She hopes to please the man, but things go horribly wrong and she is forced to flee for her life. Seeking safety at one of the Levitical cities of refuge, she is unprepared for the dangers she faces, and the enemies - and allies - she encounters on her way. Seven years ago, Moriyah was taken captive in Jericho and branded with the mark of the Canaanite gods. Now the Israelites are experiencing peace in their new land, but Moriyah has yet to find her own peace. Because of the shameful mark on her face, she hides behind her veil at all times.

The narrator distracted from the story
Revisado: 01-20-24
The narrators reading fluency was distracting. It was very clear when she was trying to speak as she was considering how to pronounce a word, she had unnatural pauses in sentences, made mistakes, the emphasis on certain words within sentences in an attempt to express emotions were frequently off and her timing in the dialogue was frequently wrong. I plan to listen to the next two books in the series, however if this particular narrator is reading, I will actually purchase the published books and read them.
