Historia
It’s the end of the 21st century, and Hunter McNeil is your average, ordinary, ex-Army Ranger with superpowers. He’s serving time unjustly in a Supermax for supervillains when a botched prison break puts him in the crosshairs of an Army general who runs the Super-Powered Combatants Corp. Turns out a coordinated strike has put supervillains in charge of every major city in the world, and Hunter is the only hope at restoring order. And so Hunter sets out to do what he does best: kill supervillains. Save the world. And build a harem of smokin’ hot, super-powered women to help him.

Hard to listen past the misogyny
Revisado: 08-18-21
The premise of this book seemed really fun but the protagonist is hard to side with. He immediately views all women as objects for his use. The women constantly need to be saved by him and the only real threats to his power are all men.
There are a few sex scenes in this book that are way past graphic. They are long pornographic readings and if that’s something you can’t get past then give this book a pass.
If this review doesn’t change your mind then at least you know what you’re getting into.

Historia
Caught between renegade magic and cranky religion, what's a poor wizard supposed to do? When the King of Yurt goes on vacation, leaving his Royal Wizard Daimbert in charge, he is faced with the escalating crises of the cranky saint of the shrine of the Holy Toe, an all-too-beguiling wood nymph, bizarre horned rabbits, a scandalous duchess, the royal nephew's mid-life crisis, and a monstrous creature made with spells they never taught at the wizards' school.

I loved the parts I could hear
Revisado: 08-12-16
I really wanted to love this book and I really like the first one in the series, but there was something wrong with the audio.
You know how sometimes there is thematic music playing during a books chapter opening, or perhaps music at the beginning and end of the entire book? That's normal and I can totally take and enjoy that. But be aware that the audio version I just listened to (The audible version as of 8-12-16) had music come and go at very strange moments. I thought it was just being more dramatic and thought it was going to be exciting; it wasn't.
Key moments had music playing so loud that I couldn't head what was happening. It only really happens near the end of the book, but it does happen near the climax so it's not helpful at all and breaks my pace.
I had to switch to the kindle version to get past these spots so I could move on.
Again, I really enjoyed the performance and story and if you enjoyed the first book, you will enjoy this one as well, but I hope the audiobook gets fixed.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

The beginning of an epic
Revisado: 12-11-12
If you could sum up The Way of Kings in three words, what would they be?
captivating, thrilling, emotional
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Way of Kings?
There is a point in this book where the two most major characters have life changing decisions at the same time and place. When they both make their choice and fully commit to the path that they up to this point have been struggling over, I found myself very emotionally tied to the story and very excited to watch them both align their destinies to the same ideals and responsibilities.
What about Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performance did you like?
The vocal performances were most excellent and I had no problem knowing who was speaking during either of their readings. I must note that there was a jarring moment when Kate Reading started reading the name of Torol Sadeas and it didn't match what Michael Kramer had been saying for many hours before. This brought me out of the performance every time she pronounced it differently.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found myself very caught up in the characters of Dalinar and Kaladin. As each of them made separate choices about how they wanted to live the rest of their lives and what ideals they wanted to live by, I found myself tearing up at their dedication and self sacrifice.
Any additional comments?
This is a great beginning to what I hope is a very long and detailed story. The author did a great job at concluding this book by not only bringing all of the characters to a moment of great change and set them up for what is to come, but also by giving the reader/listener a more complete understanding of his world and the mechanics behind the forces that drive the plot.
