Historia
Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

God Bless Ken Follett!
Revisado: 07-22-20
Mr Follett has been one of my favorite writers over the years. When I finished reading Edge of Eternity, I realized how much more interesting history would have been for those of us who snored through most of our high school classes, had the first part of this trilogy been available to read. Unfortunately for my generation, Mr Follett was a mere child.

Totally believable projection of the future
Revisado: 06-18-19
I love Daniel Suarez's writing - if you've read "Daemon" as well as "Freedom", you'll note that he takes technological aspects of life as it is now and carefully constructs completely logical future enhancements. He also manages to project the accompanying societal and political sides of life into believable future structures with logical rules, laws and benefits. Then, of course, there's the unpredictable behavior of humans, corporations, law enforcement, etc. Read all of his books - you'll love 'em!

Logical Extrapolation of The Current Worldwide Mess
Revisado: 03-10-19
I loved this trilogy! Nagata’s characters and events are so real, and all the technological enhancements she depicts for use by the soldiers of the future seem so plausible, practical, and easily envisioned, even by those of us who have no military background. I’m hoping to see it all made into a cinematic production soon...Please?

Outstanding Novel!
Revisado: 07-07-17
A very complicated mystery taking much time to unravel. Mr Stone allows his protagonist the commission of a few (believable) errors in his search for clarity, then once "justice" seems to have prevailed, he goes above and beyond by delivering yet more forms of justice, leaving the reader with a totally comfortable feeling of resolution.

Sometimes the bumbling brain fog of Russo, our hero, is carried a little too far by the author. Result: exasperated reader.

Very Reluctant to Put this Book Down
Revisado: 06-26-16
What did you love best about Her Final Breath?
Dugoni is really good at keeping you guessing all the way to the end.
What other book might you compare Her Final Breath to and why?
The Prequel to this book, also by Robert Dugoni - My Sister's Grave - was also very hard to put down. I bought and read it ages ago. I read it again prior to starting this one.
Which character – as performed by Emily Sutton-Smith – was your favorite?
My favorite character is the main character, Tracy Crosswhite.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had a strong reaction to the character who plays her boss - but, of course, an ability to deal with petty tyrants is a necessary trait in great heroes, right?

Several Different Stories Merge...
Revisado: 06-18-16
Where does The Defiant: Grid Down rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Well written, but you really have to pay attention in order to make sense of the plot. You have to keep track of all the different characters and groups as they move along their necessary paths geographically and emotionally. I've read a lot of survival books lately, and I actually went back and read this a second time - I think this is one of the better written ones. Now I'm going to read the sequel.
What other book might you compare The Defiant: Grid Down to and why?
There are some other "apocalyptic" books written by "A. American" that I also enjoyed. I think the initial, "A", stands for "Angry" - not sure.
Which character – as performed by Joseph Morton – was your favorite?
There were many well described and interesting characters - my favorite is "Bryn" (not sure of the spelling) she's the older, more experienced of two sisters in their twenties. she is a quick learner in bad situations - seems more able to sense danger and react appropriately than many of the other characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Lots of moments in the book particularly moved me - too many to go into.
Any additional comments?
I liked the book so much that I've purchased the sequel.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

I couldn't stop stop listening!
Revisado: 12-02-13
If you could sum up Sycamore Row in three words, what would they be?
I almost croaked from lack of food, water, sleep. What a tale! Kept me wondering what the heck was going to happen all the way to the end. This is what I love about Grisham's books - all the little side stories that contribute to the complexity of the main plot get so nicely resolved and logically pieced together by the end of the story. All the characters are so well thought out and believable. Such artistry! May he live to quench our thirsty brains and phyches for many years to come. Bravo!
