Historia
What We Talk About When We Talk About Rape is a thoughtful, generous, unflinching look at rape and rape culture. Drawing on her own experience and her work with hundreds of survivors as the head of a rape crisis center in Boston, Abdulali tackles some of our thorniest questions about rape, articulating the confounding way we account for who gets raped and why.

Must Read for Sexual Assault Victims/Survivors

I loved this book! I have never felt so heard and seen before. Sohaila brings such a richness, laughter, no holds back, and care to her reading. The material in the book can be so hard to listen to but her writing made it possible to make it through the book.

Historia
Are men literally born to cheat? Does monogamy actually serve women's interests? These are among the questions that have made The Moral Animal one of the most provocative science books in recent years. Wright unveils the genetic strategies behind everything from our sexual preferences to our office politics - as well as their implications for our moral codes and public policies.

Very Dated Book
Revisado: 07-06-24
I couldn't finish it. A large portion of the book is written from authors very outdated perspective. My desire to read this book was to get glimpse at how evolutionary psychology was perceived in previous years. This may not have been the best choice for such an endeavor.

Historia
"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

Thought-provoking
Revisado: 06-20-24
Excellent book overall. I learned a lot from this book and was able to practice the art of radical acceptance while reading. The book contains exercises that really help to solidify the material and began a journey into living within radical acceptance. I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for answers and a new tool for living.

Historia
Almost a decade ago, the first Bottoming Book taught tens of thousands of people that bottoming - being a submissive, masochist, slave, "boy" or "girl", or other BDSM recipient - is as much an art as topping. Since then, the growing popularity of BDSM, and the blossoming of the Internet as a source of information and connection, have created a whole new universe of possibilities for players.

Wonderful & Informative
Revisado: 01-17-24
The author succinctly melds together all forms of bottoming. The nature, transcendance, openness, and responsibility that comes with practicing this type of role. This book is a must read for anyone interested in learning more about this role and the roles associated with it.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Very Insightful
Revisado: 01-16-24
The book was well written and informative. Some information I felt was outdated or didn't apply but that may mean the message from the author wasn't intended for me. Straightforward and to the point with great tips to unf*ck your brain and to view my experiences in a new light. I highly recommend!
