Historia
In 1665, a young man from Martha's Vineyard became the first Native American to graduate from Harvard College. Upon this slender factual scaffold, Brooks has created a luminous tale of love and faith, magic and adventure. The narrator of Caleb's Crossing is Bethia Mayfield, growing up in the tiny settlement of Great Harbor amid a small band of pioneers and Puritans. Restless and curious, she yearns after an education that is closed to her by her sex....

Hard to believe someone can write so convincingly in a narrative congruent with the context of time and history. Narrator does a very good job too!

Fantastic book!!!!!
Revisado: 09-18-15
As usual, this writer delivers a compelling story full of mystery and intrigue. The characters are so endearing and believable. Every woman has wondered at some time whether or not she knows the whole truth and whether or not she would want to know. This is the third book I've read by this author and enjoyed this one as much as the others!! Enjoy!

Historia
"I'll tell you something, something important. Love is a decision. Not a feeling. That's what you young people don't realise. That's why you're always off divorcing each other. No offence, dear." So decrees the formidable Connie Thrum of Scribbly Gum Island. She is the chief decision-maker of a rather unconventional family and her word is law. It's been over seventy years since Connie and her sister Rose visited their neighbours and found the kettle boiling and a baby waking for her feed, but no sign of her parents.

Historia
How God is described today strikes many as mean, primitive, backwards, illogical, tribal, and at odds with the frontiers of science. At the same time, many intuitively feel a sense of reverence and awe in the world. Can we find a new way to talk about God? Pastor and New York Times best-selling author Rob Bell shows how traditional ideas have grown stale and dysfunctional and reveals a new path for how to return vitality and vibrancy to how we understand God.

Incredibly well written and narrated!!
Revisado: 06-04-15
As someone who understands intimately the secrecy and complexity of living with abuse, I was in awe of the writer's ability to convey the subtlety, intensity and the absurdity of loving someone who also harms. Encounters with evil within and without and the good that also runs through us are examined in this book with the skill of writer who is an expert in both fact and fiction. Well done!!

Best-selling author Diane Chamberlain delivers a breakout book about a small southern town 50 years ago, and the darkest - and most hopeful - places in the human heart. After losing her parents, 15-year-old Ivy Hart is left to care for her grandmother, older sister, and nephew as tenants on a small tobacco farm. As she struggles with her grandmother’s aging, her sister’s mental illness, and her own epilepsy, she realizes they might need more than she can give. When Jane Forrester takes a position as Grace County’s newest social worker, she doesn’t realize just how much her help is needed.

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

Heart wrenching and heart warming!
Revisado: 04-06-15
This is a well-written story full of strong female characters who speak wisdom and life into each other. Although not an intense read nor does it ask you to ride a roller coaster of emotions, it does engage you and tantalize you so that you want to know what's coming next. A good book to bolster your belief in the strength, beauty and wisdom of the women you draw into your life.
