Historia
Confused and disoriented, Georgina Ferrars awakens in a small room in Tregannon House, a private asylum in a remote corner of England. She has no memory of the past few weeks. The doctor Maynard Straker tells her that she admitted herself under the name Lucy Ashton the day before and then suffered a seizure. When she insists he has mistaken her for someone else, Dr. Straker sends a telegram to her uncle, who replies that Georgina Ferrars is at home with him in London: "Your patient must be an imposter." Suddenly her voluntary confinement becomes involuntary....

Revisado: 12-05-21
Odd book. The story was contrived. It had my interest enough for me to want to finish it, but it dragged, and then the ending was disappointing and rather ridiculous. I usually love this narrator, but the tone she set in this book did not match the gothic mystery genre

Hm. Disappointed in this novel. The story is whiny and the narrator has an odd anxiousness to her voice. I returned this book

Historia
Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Great narrator, poor plot
Revisado: 07-30-21
I picked this book because if the narrator, and as expected, Lucy Price-Lewis delivered. Unfortunately, she is the only reason I stuck with this novel. The plot is unbelievable and the heroine does not earn my respect with her odd choices. There is little to no suspense and the story is wholly predictable. I wish I hadn’t used a credit on this one

Good but difficult
Revisado: 05-22-21
This story is so well written. You can feel everything the characters are going through. Aoife McMahon is an excellent narrator and I would recommend any book she narrates. The book is also heartbreaking and therefore difficult to listen to. The book is about life, so there is no final resolution of where the lives of the characters will go. I really liked it and found it very compelling, but I disliked it at the same time.

The year is 1901, and the death of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch has sent the entire British Empire into mourning. A body has been found in the Tower of London, posed to look like the murdered medieval king Henry VI. Not as good as book #1 but still a good yarn
Revisado: 01-08-21
I loved the first book in this series, so I was excited for the release of the second. I was a little disappointed in that this production now has three narrators (I prefer one). All the same, it was a good story and I look forward to #3. Toni Frutin is an amazing narrator. I didn’t find Furlong and Waring to be quite as convincing, but this would not deter me from listening to their work again.

Some lines should never be crossed. Police corruption, an investigation that ends in tragedy and the mystery of a little girl’s silence – three unconnected events that will prove to be linked by one small town. While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.

Slow but has good ending
Revisado: 08-06-20
This was not my favorite of Kate Morton’s books, mostly because it was very slow. However, the last third of the book picked up and the author kept me guessing until the very end, which was true to the author, a very good ending. The voice of the narrator was good, but I speeded up the recording to 1.2x for a more satisfying listen

Historia
The Third Heiress. The tragic death of her fiance in a harrowing car accident plunges Jill Gallagher into a dark mystery. His final words to her: "I love you…Kate," force her to realize she neither truly knew this dashing British photographer, nor understood his true motives for being here in America. When she brings his body back to his English family, she enters a world of hostility, suspicion, and closely guarded secrets. Then she finds a century-old photograph of an American heiress named Kate Gallagher who looks remarkably like herself-and who disappeared nearly a century ago.

Not a good one
Revisado: 05-20-20
I have listened to this narrator before and liked her, so I chose the book for the narrator. Unfortunately, the narrator is not as adept with an American accent as she seems to be with other British accents(being an American, her brit accents sound good to me), and the American characters sounded contrived. I also found it awkward that after the prologue, the narration and thoughts and conversation of the American main character switched from an American to an English accent. Aside from the narration, this is a slow story with a weak, simpering heroine (I am hard-pressed to call her a heroine), and the language is repetitive and poorly written. I cannot finish this book and will exchange it for another

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

A beautiful classic, wonderfully narrated by Rosamund Pike. Her inflection, accents, and diversity of voices made this production a delight for this long-time Jane Austen fan.
