This book is truly amazing . I don't believe I've read anything closer to capturing that certain period of time - including the south Louisiana accents - the traditions, the loves, fears, food, fun, biases and blessings of a past era, people, and the places - as told here . Unexpectedly enjoyable and satisfying .

Best Narrator of Series

Yes to this story as narrated by Tom Sellwood. I loved his voice, pacing intonation, etc. ... e.g. "ROW !" :)
Those negative narrator reviews made me skeptical about buying this one. I am supremely happy I ignored them and believe this narrator is the best by far ... I'm now listening to the 6th book in this series . Wish entire series was told by this guy .

Completely Undone

Just finished, I'm incapable of doing this book's review justice ,the story's too good, it's too soon, must reflect post Audible listen. Melancholy anyone ? No, ignore last statement . I think you'll thank me if you only 🎶 listen while a tale is well told.

Original Storyline, good character development.

I was reading this book and somehow didn't quite finish so time passed... Anyway, I started relistening to young Wildus at book's beginning. It could be my state of mind, a change in seasons, or whatever, I found myself liking this recording of story even more. I had to slow the narration speed down a bit during initial portion of story and that seemed to helped too. Highly recommend for family listening, or indidivualy - young boys/girls, on up to "young" old Aunties, Nanas , and Popsies.

LOUD/low/LOUD/low

I'm at chapter 18 and would enjoy this story except that the volume goes from almost silent to too loud so I am constantly adjusting the volume up and down. I may have to stop listening to this story because of that - even if I wished to continue - don't want all this bothering over volume levels.

Excellent Narration

This wasn't the book I expected , however, I enjoyed it immensely. I believe this book should be under genre ' young adults ' . That said, I am many years past being a young adult and thoroughly enjoyed this story and will buy the next book in series when it becomes available .

Narrator's performance is insulting

An OK novel that could have been much more if characters were given a decent southern accent- a nuanced, subtle, and intelligent voice instead of this annoying, dumb downed, overemoted , version of one.
